Re: MK2.5S new parts

Has anyone received the 2.5 —>2.5s upgrade parts yet? I ordered Feb 15th. Thanks.

Re: MK2.5S new parts

I got it this week, also ordered arround 15th Feb. But just the upgrade kit, without the printed parts. Those I made myself. MK2.5S is already running.

Ok, sounds like it should be shipped soon. I’m just printing my parts now while waiting. Thanks!

Re: MK2.5S new parts

Before assembly, take a look at the main hotend parts where is the filament path through the gears. The upper hole for filament from the sensor area seems to be a bit not in line with the lower hole going to ptfe tube and hotend. Once you place the gears you can see it. The filament is in fact pushed to one side of ptfe and is because of it curved a little bit. Not much, some 0.x mm. It caused me some issue during final tuning of the gear and it was too late to solve it without complete dissasembly. I think the filament is being pressed/squiezed now and it could cause troubles.
I saw this issue in one of the posts, but forget and until the final stage of gear tuning when everything was done it was not obvious.
Solved for now with moving the gear the way, that it feeds the ptfe tube correctly in the middle. So the discrepancy is now on the upper part, where filament does not come to the gears straight on from the hole in plastic part.
It could solve some small driling, but before you place the sensor mechanism 😉

Re: MK2.5S new parts

My upgrade kit arrived on March 22nd as well, so must have been a large batch of them shipped together there. Printed the new pieces over the weekend and upgraded, first test print went fine. I used the pre-created gcode files downloaded from the Prusa site. Didn't notice any issue with the filament to PTFE tube alignment, but I was aligning with the bottom hole when setting the gears anyway, so might have just not noticed it.

Re: MK2.5S new parts

I received my MK2 MMU to MMU2S upgrade. I never installed my MMU 1 so figured this was just an MMU2, but I had to do a major upgrade to my extruder to convert my MK2.5 to a MK2.5S. It included all the printed parts, but anyone upgrading should be aware there isn't ONE MK2.5S design but there is two. One has the filament sensor in what they call the "chimney" and the other uses a ball bearing to trigger the filament senor lower. These both replace the MK2.5 filament sensor which didn't work great. I will tell you, the chimney filament sensor isn't so great either. You can't just insert filament and have it detected, you need to load it, THEN its detected, so "autoload" is basically useless.

I did build the MMU2, but never tried it and I gave up on it. It just takes so much space, and calibration just seems overwhelming. When I come back from vacation, I'm selling it on eBay.
