Firmware crash "Watchdog Timeout"

Printer has been working fine. Booted up this morning for another day of printing and received the following message: "FIRMWARE CRASH! Crash Reason: Watchdog timeout". I powered down and back up but same message. Reflashed the printer with Ver 3.11.0 (same version as it was before) and got message on slicer that flash succeeded. Rebooted printer and got same Crash message. Tried again but same results. HELP!

RE: Firmware crash "Watchdog Timeout" More information

Tried to flash Ver 3.9 and got nothing but two rowa of white blocks across screen. Reflashed the Ver 3.11.0 FW and got same watchdog timeout error.

Same here, though flashing 3.9.3 gets rid of the crash. I have tried 3.10, 3.11, and the latest 3.12 RC as of today & all of them didn't work with my 2.5. Crazy thing is I have printed a lot since I updated the firmware however long ago.

Spent many hours with Prusa Tech. Ivan helped me solve the problem. I had to do a factory reset "All Data". Then work through a complete recalibration after flashing FW 9.3.3 (he provided a link to Grithub site). Painful but up and running now. 😊

I didn't have to do a factory reset, just flashed 3.9.3 and away I went. I think maybe a factory reset though might not be a bad way to go as it still has its data from 2017.

I have the same problem. Latest version I can use is 3.10.  Any chances that it will work with newest firmware?

Best regards, Peter

TLDR. Factory reset, then flash 3.12.0. Re-calibrate & have fun. Write down your Z offset so that part is quicker.

OK, 3.12.0 released today. So I went ahead & flashed it. Guess what??!?! Yeah it didn't work. It crashed as well. So, I put 3.9.3 back on it & decided to just go ahead & factory reset (all data). You know, I didn't try the reset button presses with the crashed 3.12, but I digress. I did a factory reset & when it was finished I skipped the calibration stuff & then flashed 3.12.0. BOOM! That works. Then did another factory reset only because I wanted that wizard to go through calibration & that was quicker than me searching the menu at that time.

Thank you, nixternal!  I came into my shop this morning and had the exact same problem.  I followed your steps, and I'm off printing away!

RE: Firmware crash "Watchdog Timeout"

I also go the "Watchdog timeout." It came up the first time after a print finished, I did a filament unload and then pressed the reset button. Instead of a clean reboot, I got the FIRMWARE CRASH, Watchdog timeout. Then it behaved like others reported, including the fact that the CRASH message appeared after any reset or power up.

The detail I will add to this discussion is that, for my printer, the message can be ignored. I clicked the button on the printer (the one that does menus and also rotates) and the message went away and the printer operates normally. I proceeded to print without incident. And, after that, I can reset or power down and don't see the message anymore.

One other thing I noticed: the Statistics for my printer were reset to zero. I had many thousands of hours and kilometers of filament on this printer. It had not been reset since I built it 6 or 8 years ago (I can't remember when.) This is the first time those statistics have been reset.
