False filament swaps and unneeded heating pauses.
My Mk2.5 has been running well for nearly a year. I recently started printing after a month-long pause, and consistently see two new behaviors.
False filament swaps: I do not do multi-color printing, but now the printer interrupts printing to insist that I remove the filament and put it back in. At first I thought this was slicer misbehavior (Slic3r PE 1.41.2+Win64) but I see the same behavior with Simplify 3D 4.1.1, and also with different models. On a print 25mm tall I will be asked to swap filaments 3 times or so.
Unneeded heating pauses: The printer will stop several times for "Heating", but the LCD display shows the hotend and bed temps to be correct. It "heats" for a while and then continues.
Printer firmware version is 3.5.1-1778.
Any idea what is happening?
Re: False filament swaps and unneeded heating pauses.
I have now upgraded to firmware 3.5.2-1999 and Slic3r PE 1.41.3+. A freshly sliced 3DBenchy shows the same printing behavior.
Re: False filament swaps and unneeded heating pauses.
does the printer have a filament sensor? if so turn it off . see if that helps
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
Re: False filament swaps and unneeded heating pauses.
Thanks, Chris. Turning off the filament sensor stopped the filament change errors. I'll have a look at the sensor, but I've got a Mk2.5S upgrade kit on the way with a different design.
