Hello there!

I have this weird, annoying problem with my 2.5s printer, it does not hinder me from printing, but I would still like to resolve it and came here for your help, if you are willing.

I went though a turbulent phase in my life and my printer ended up stored and unused for years, so a couple of days ago, I took it out of the moth balls and started printing again. I dusted the printer, lubricated the rods, a firmware update/calibration and here comes the gcode!

My first print failed and it turned out that the gear that fastens on the extruder motor was loose, so I tighten it and problem solved, ah the dopamine from solving the first printing problem after years was sweet. The printer finished its first print after its long rest in limbo!

Now to the issue at hand, since then, each time I print or try to load/unload filament, I get the mintemp bed error (around 30-31C), but if I power cycle/restart the printer and try again (while the bed is still warm from the first try) it does successfully finish the print. If I let the bed cool down (around 18-20C bed temp) and retry I get the mintemp error again. Attached are images before (idle printer) and after (the moment the mintemp error appeared).

Thank you for your time, Christopher.

Some facts:

The printer was unused for years

The room temp is 17-18C

Some facts:

It’s the first time I tried this feauture since I owned this printer, never verified its function before.

The filament got stuck right after the extrurer motor gear, the printer was still trying to print.

In the support menu it appears that the sensor successfully detected the filament presence/absense. (I tried with the same filament material White PLA)

I have my old i3 Mk 2.5 (started out as a Mk 1, then Mk 2, then Mk 2.5). I have a Core One (started out as a Mk 4, then a Mk 4/s then the Core One), and since I upgraded the Mk4/s to the Core One I have been using Prusa Connect with the Buddy3d camera. So all that backstory finished, here's the situation:

I decided to try get the old Mk 2.5 working with Prusa Connect. I used OctoPrint all the way until I upgraded the Mk 4/s to the Core One. I have generally been happy with Prusa Connect. There are a few things I wish it had, but mostly everything I need is there.

I installed Prusa Link on a Raspberry Pi 3 (b+ I think it is), and it works, however when I try to set up Prusa Link it says it can't obtain the serial number from the printer and wants me to provide it. I have looked through the remnants of all my old upgrades of the printers and was only able to find one serial number and it wasn't remotely in the format it wants (starting with CZX or something like that). So, I contacted support and they gave me some things to try from using Pronterface to using some windows commands and nothing returned a S/N, in any format. My board is a RAMBo1.3a (I think there's an a there). Anyway, its not the older 1.0 version. They're "working on a solution and will contact me back". It has been a week, and I don't have a high degree of confidence that they'll come up with one.

Has anyone been successful (or even tried) in getting Prusa Link to work with a Mk 2.5 or earlier? Should I just give up on Prusa Connect and go back to OctoPrint which served me very well for many, many years? I would like to use the same control software with both printers. I bought one of the stand alone Buddy3D cameras to use with the Mk 2.5 if I can get it working, can I use those with OctoPrint using the RTSP address?

Should I just give away the old Mk 2.5 to a friend and let it be their headache? hah.

I’ve had this problem before and after replacing the hotend heater and thermistor. It used to happen because of a broken thermistor, which i have replaced, but it still keeps happening. I’ve tried wiggling the cable, bending and twisting it in weird ways, resoldering the thermistor header, etc… but the problem keeps happening even though it always shows my rooms temperature: around 26°C (25.8°c). I know it’s not the hotend heater because i can feel it heat up fine. I tried factory resetting the printer but still the same issue.

If anyone has some more troubleshooting steps, maybe even a different firmware, i’ll be happy to do them.

Thanks.

PS: I tested the thermistors resistance and it’s around 100kΩs, which as i’ve researched should be 25°

Same 0,4 nozzle as before.

Also replaced the PTFE tube and cleaned the "heatsink?" that the nozzle is screwed into.

I did the XYZ calibration, and the height calibration. The calibration print looks nice.

But every time I print something a blob appears after a while. Maybe about 20 min. Roughly 5x5mm and 2 mm high. After this the further printing is scewed, and I have to stop it.

I don't know what to do to fix this. Can someone help?

Attaced a couple of photos
