2.5 unusual behaviour
I just installed the latest Prusa slicer and firmware, since then I've been seeing a couple of issues:
1. When printing a certain part in ABS, I see the staircase effect in the Y axis. Twice it happened early in the print (20 layers?) and after re-slicing, it happened later in the print (100 layers?). It seems to have offset the Y axis by about 2mm. I've inspected every part of the Y axis, there's nothing loose, jammed or hung up. It doesn't happen when I print the same part in PLA, but I need to use ABS to help reduce deformation in direct sunlight.
2. While printing another part, it stops about 60% through and tells me to unload the filament. Then when I reload, the extruder motor skips. I use pronterface to extrace the filament, I cut the end off and sometimes can manage to reinsert it and get it to extrude successfully. It's a brand new nozzle I just replaced today.
I'm wondering if the problems are related or not. I wonder if #1 (and/or #2) could be due to some issue with the slicer or firmware. I thought #1 could be the higher bed temps for ABS could be distorting the bed and causing the bearings to bind, but I tested the range of motion and it seems to move ok. I'm wondering if #2 could be a problem with the filament sensor, or even poor quality filament that doesn't want to melt.
At this point, I'm thinking about rebuilding the hotend. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
