Black strings showing up in print

A week or so ago I started seeing black strands in my prints.  I thought something was mis-aligned so I took the print head apart.  I could find nothing wrong and no melted parts.  Any ideas?

Have you cleaned your heater block and nozzle off recently? Stray filament can accumulate up there, cook, burn and eventually drop at random locations. Consider giving it a good clean with a soft brass brush, being careful to avoid the thermistor and heater cartridge wires. If you are using a coated nozzle, the brush may damage the coating, so use a strip of cardboard to clean it. Consider adding a silicone sock to avoid this build-up.

Nozzle is only about a month old as had some issues with the last one.  Will check that out though.
