First Layer Issues after MK2.5 Upgrade - Need Help
Finished up my 2.5 upgrade last week. Since then I've been working on figuring out my print issues. I've replaced the nozzle. Adjusted the bondtech gears. Adjusted Z height. Calibrated and re-calibrated a half dozen times. Adjusted print flow. No matter what, I get a horrible first layer and most prints are failing after a while. Extrusion seems pretty uneven. Posting a picture below which is pretty typical of what I'm seeing. Sad because I really had my MK2 dialed in. Any help would be more than appreciated. Thanks!

Have the same problem, first layer is terrible! Mine is very uneven throughout the build plate.
What helped a bit is to go over the spring steel plate with the green side of a kitchen spunge, and then clean it with IPA, which will roughen the surface.
After that print a large flat thing and use the live adjust Z until you get an acceptable layer that is sticking down.
My first layer is nowhere as good as before I upgraded, but at least it’s usable now.

Hi guys.
I suggest that you use Jeff Jordan's Life adjust my way version6.1 file
First to idealise the centre of your bed
Then , as A large flat thing takes a long time to print
Lets say you make a 200mm square model 0.2mm thick
If you slice it with concentric infill. You will quickly see if any side is way out of adjustment. And save having to wait while the whole layer prints...

Re: First Layer Issues after MK2.5 Upgrade - Need Help
Thanks for the idea. I'll try that.
I can't tell if it's a bed alignment/surface issue or an extrusion issue. What's odd is that this square that I printed should be even throughout but has waves in it (basically high points with more filament) followed by thin areas. This feels like an issue happening with the extruder but I was hoping someone else had seen this issue after their upgrade.
I'll try your suggestion(s) to see if it is related to the bed. If not I'll probably have to break down the extruder and see if I can figure things out from there. As of now I can't finish a print due to this issue.
Re: First Layer Issues after MK2.5 Upgrade - Need Help
Quick update. It actually was the Z height. I guess I got trained to expect around -100 when adjusting the Z height on the Mk2. I had to dial it up to 400 after the upgrade and the first layer started looking much better Still not perfect, but much closer and I can finish prints now. Thanks to everyone who responded. Hopefully if other see this they can avoid the overthinking that I put into solving the problem!
