Filament change ever few layers?
Just got my 2.5 kit together, ran all the calibration test, came up a treat.
Went to print my first piece, every couple of layers it acts as if a filament change has been triggered?
It feels like this is how it would react if it had detected a filament break?
Dunno, what should I be checking for? I'm using eSun PETG black.
Cheers!
Re: Filament change ever few layers?
Probably the PETG Black. Though so far i used prusa PETG Black, mgchemicals PETG Black,CF-PETG (not shiny) and TPU Black without issues. also if you touched the thing and got your dirty hands on the sensor lens during install that would make things worse too (lol).
Re: Filament change ever few layers?
Hi Kenny,
not ideal, but you can turn the sensor off...
might give you a bit of peace... what part number is your filament sensor?
i believe the latest is the dot e version

Was a 'computer tech' many years ago 😉 So used to handling small delicate components. Definitely didn't touch it, also installed it while wearing fresh nitrite gloves just in case.

I'll have to pop the top and have a look, do I need to remove the sensor itself it to check?
Re: Filament change ever few layers?
Turns out it just hates eSun PETG Black. The section between the red lines is eSun black, below it is Prusa black (mini spool from 2.5 kit), above is eSun grey. It only trips on the black, which as you can see is slightly more shiny than the Prusa. Had a play with tension, that's about all I've tried for now. Have only got a small about of black, but have a spool on order. Will have to test when it gets here.

Hi Kenny,
you can turn it off in the LCD Menu's
settings, I think

Yeah looks like I'll have to do this while using eSun black, apparently there's a newer sensor, hopefully that sorts the issue.

Me too!

Re: Filament change ever few layers?
new version won't fix that, it's a sensor problem (the actual sensor chip on the board)... the new board adds some protection from burning out. (adds a tiny fuse, resistor). its probably un-fixable.
Re: Filament change ever few layers?
Reporting the same issue with Prusa PET black, Fused Filament PETG black and MG Chemicals PETG black. It's maddening. Especially when having issues with PETG print extrusion generally.

I have the same problem with "Fillamentum CPE HG100 Black Soul"
