Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
Well, compared to the bear mod this one is fully printable. And thanks to it‘s structure it is also super stiff, even with 20% infill.

Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
Speaking of thermal runaway, I now see a ton of it with the new extruder / fan vent at the hotend side when using PLA. Always caused when the print cooling fan comes on. I have to lower max fan speed from 100% to like 40% for it to not happen. Anyone else seeing this or just me?
I have order 40W Cartdrige for fix it .Anyway i think, wear and tilt of the cartridge cables can cause it.
You have stl regards this mod? 😀 😮
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
Meanwhile, i finished my custom MK3 style y front plate. It's made of PETG. What do you think?
just need some external TMC steppers now. 🙂
is it 100% infill? looks thick enough but i still rather alu/steel. however i guess this might be better than the threaded screw for the belt, i am sure that screw bends under tension. there is also the Bear mod that adds extrusion for it and template to drill holes in the frame to attach like MK3.
With v2 of Bear upgrade you can also go to full extrusion frame (and PSU is no longer needed to rigidify the frame) 🙂
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
marco.p that is gorgeous. Is there a Thing available?

Let me just fix a couple of smaller issues. I'm going to put this design on Thingyverse, soon.

Actually, I do like the small footprint of Prusa's original frame design although the Bear upgrades are looking awesome and might improve the print quality a bit.

I understand, the original frame is quite compact for the build volume.
The half upgrade has a foot print close to MK2s and MK3 :
Full upgrade has almost same foot print if you take the surface as rectangle.
Improve print quality, noise, maintainability and easier to add accessories or a longer Z axis (on full upgrade) 😉

BTW - My custom y front is now available on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2836470
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
You should do the back now 🙂

Yes, sir. 😎

Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
I'm having a hard time printing the fan nozzle, the very top does not print well. Did you have any problems, yours looks fine.
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
Prusa is providing the fan nozzle in the kit because it needs to be ABS and the filament they provide is PETG.

I've printed well that part when I go down the speed to 20%. In ABS, of course.
Sorry for my poor English. I try to do my best.
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
On the subject of printing the parts for the upgrade, I had all sorts of issues trying to print in PET G. The end result after a number of failures was a completely blocked hot end. I now have a printer that is not working and have ordered a new hot end assembly and a set of printed parts to allow me to proceed with the upgrade. It would seem that the parts are not readily available so, although I have had my upgrade kit for more than a week, it doesn’t look like I am going to be back printing for some time.
Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
Hi David,
as you already have a new E3d V6 in the kit, can't you use that to continue?
as far as I know, the only significant difference is the length of the PTFE Liner
and you can order PTFE direct from prusa or E3d... or Ebay

Did I get that wrong?
Gulp...
If I did I claim early onset dementia!

Re: Done with my MK2.5 😉
my misunderstanding...
We are aware of that the full upgrade from Original Prusa i3 M2/S to MK3 is a little bit pricey, so we came up with the second best option - the MK2.5 upgrade. It gives you the best features of magnetic bed with spring steel sheet, whole new extruder head with Bondtech and Noctua fans goodness and also the P.I.N.D.A. 2 bed leveling sensor and filament sensor.
But if you want the full MK3 upgrade anyway, no problem! You can find it here.
Upgrade kit contains:
Magnetic MK52 Heatbed with powder coated PEI spring steel print sheet 12v
Bondtech extruder gears
Filament Sensor
P.I.N.D.A 2 with thermistor
Noctua fan 5v
Black fan-nozzle-shroud from easyABS
200g black(*) PETG filament
*We are not offering the color variation with the MK2.5 upgrade as the whole extruder needs to be black (because of filament sensor reliability). All previous orders were automatically changed.
If you're upgrading from MK2, you will NOT get MK2S parts like u-bolts and new rods/bearings, you have to get them separately.
G-code files to print on your MK2/S will be available prior to the release in Prusa i3 printable parts
You can check out what is new in the article on PrusaPrinters.org.
Guess Whole new Extruder head, isn't complete with a new extruder... Sorry folks...
Regards Joan

As others already mentioned a printed ABS fan shroud is already provided with every mk2.5 upgrade. Anyways, I printed an improved design in PETG that can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2720541
