Crashes & Wandering Extruder Since MK2 to MK2.5S Upgrade
I upgraded from MK2 all the up to MK2.5S (at one time). It was unusable with 2.7.2, and 2.8.0 firmware but is now.... almost acceptable with 2.8.1. Typically the extruder will randomly make a trip to the edge of the print bed and then return back to its print location. The height does not change so it drags across any of the current layer which might be in the way. Also, the filament will ooze a bit during that time and then get caught on the side of the print object upon the extruder's return. Those are the "better" prints. A good portion of the time the system just locks up and gives an LCD white screen of death. So far I've only been able to complete ONE item (MK2 spool holders) which was good enough to consider usable. This has led to a small bone yard of batarangs and PRUSA logos.
What are the first troubleshooting 1st steps for this?
The pics from top to bottom are Firmware 3.7.2 ( I think), 3.8.0, 3.8.0, and 3.8.1. - Prusament PETG.

Minor update. Here is a black batarrang from a few days ago and an orange one from today. The black one was on high power and the orange one was on silent mode. The black one had the extruder go to the edge of the print bed at least 6 times and return leaving some ooze stuck to the edges. The orange one did not have the extruder wander even once. It's interesting that the both locked up and gave the white LCD of Death at the same spot though.
Running a life Z test gave this wonderful result:

Oh, another oddity is that when the printer is pre-heating, the SD card menus basically don't work. The rambo lags so badly that only some of the files show and they are jumbled.

OK sounds like a wiring problem. If all your belts are correctly tight, and if all the axis can move smoothly, then I would remove all the wiring from the board, and start again.
