RE: XL will not boot after firmware update to 5.1.2
what have you guys having the issue heard from prusa regarding the issue. I normally am pretty quick to grab firmware updates when I see them, but your experiences are making me second guess that strategy. I'm not even sure how to get back to a working config if your boot loader is hosed. I'm curious if you can plug the printer in via usb cable and force some sort of eeprom/firmware load that way.
RE:
I'm not sure about where you guys having the problem where you live, but I live in a very dry environment, like 20-25% humidity this time of year, and is it possible you when you copied file to the usb key that you maybe had static electricity? I'm always SUPER conscious about touching the printer and computer frame when before touching the usb drive during transport between the two. I nearly fried an MK3 once which is why I'm so paranoid about it. I don't know if this applies to you but in trying to understand what might have done it perhaps this could be the case? I mean if it scrambled some bits possibly. Though I think it checksums everything before it flashes for cases like this. Just something to consider.

Had a similar issue. I removed the CMOS battery on the xbuddy board for a minute and put it back in. Resolved my issue 1st time. May require a full recalibration of everything from setup wizard.
RE: XL will not boot after firmware update to 5.1.2
Just here to let you know that the upgrade bug also affects the mini.
- Without a .bbf (either no USB at all or one w/o a firmware file) it stops at ~45% of the boot progress bar
- With a .bbf it stops at "looking for .bbf", i.e. apparently it does not find it.
All of this is after a seemingly fine update using MINI_english-german_firmware_5.1.2.bbf
