Help Controlling Stepper Motor on Sandwich Board Port
Hi!
I am in the process of trying to make a screw feeding toolhead for my XL that I can custom swap to when I want to print with fun things like chocolate or specialized squishy TPU like materials. While I have succeeded in getting the gantry and print head system to move with my g-codes I haven't been able to find a good way to control the stepper motor responsible for extrusion.
I found an unused 4pin connector on the XL sandwich board that looks like it could be used to control a stepper motor that I need to drive the screw, but I cannot find a way to run G-code that will do anything. I have not been able to find any direct callout to this connection in the firmware either for as far as I have looked.
I am trying to avoid using a cheese and buddy board for the toolhead due to increased complexity, weight and cost of the printhead.
I am using a standard Prusa XL - E motor to drive the screw.
I would really like to use this connection to control my stepper motor, does anyone know if this is possible and or how I can change my firmware to allow this port to work with my stepper motor? If I cannot control the stepper from this connection would there be a better place for me to plug into?
Thanks!
