Waiting for Prusa "XL" or getting a Voron 2.4 kit?

RE:

Just finished setting TAP up. The real attraction for me was not the precision (also coming from klicky which served me well) but the reduced need for Z offset adjustment after nozzle and/or print plate changes. I would want to say it would eliminate LiveZ tweaks, but I also print different materials that need slightly different levels of squish so in those cases I do very small adjustments.

Eliminating the klicky dock also restored a small amount of print space in the back left corner that I otherwise had closed off.

Regarding the difficulty, I would say if you are capable of setting up klicky, the TAP isn't a big leap. If anything, configuration wise it is simpler due to less macros to deal with since there is no dock/undock considerations. Hardware wise, cutting the MGN9 rail can be a pain, so I just bought a kit. If you are printing your own parts, certain parts can be difficult to do properly. Very important that there is minimal warpage in the ABS prints esp. the slots that hold the XY belts.

You're surely right. That shouldn't be very difficult, specially with a kit, which saves the MGN9 rail cutting.

Fact is that I'm becoming more and more lazy as old age settles in..  After setting up the auto-Z feature of the Klicky I don't have to worry about nozzle or plate changes and that's enough for me.

Eh, it really isn't much work at all to move to Tap.

I'm using the physical switch version vs the optical version as parts were easier to find at the time.

I have gone down the Voron 2.4 route myself. I decided to cancel my MK4 upgrade kit as it wasn't really offering me all that much value for the cash. Waiting for the kit to arrive on Monday 17th. For those who don't fancy the Voron build there are more simpler to build clones (it's a clone because it's not totally identical). like the Troodon.

I did the same thing - cancelled my order for the XL and got a Voron instead.   The Voron has one problem though, I get it working perfectly and then I add some kind of mod, then . . . one month later its back online.  Very tempting to modify it continuously instead of just using it as a printer.  Anyway, if I get another printer, I am seriously thinking of getting the Bambu which is not open source and can simply be used for printing fast and well.
