RE: The XL is open source? When can we get CAD files for the printer to then design enclosures etc?
Good they've added the step files for the printed parts. What we really want is the 'source' CAD files for the whole printer. That's still missing to my knowledge.

To my knowledge, and I have looked, I do not think they have released them.

Prusa XL with the single tool head blurred by motion as it prints the first few layers.
I love my Prusa XL but I got it and continue to buy Prusa filiment because I wanted to support the open source eco system. How do we best remind them of the obligation of their earlier statements?
(picture included to prove to random readers I actually have the printer).

@prusa what's the news on this. When do we get the entire source for the xl printer posted?
RE: The XL is open source? When can we get CAD files for the printer to then design enclosures etc?
I think if they didnt post it for the past 2 years they probably dont plan to. Or at least not until something new comes along and renders the current design "old". Lets be honest here. Prusa's reprap and open sourceness is very limited after the XL era. Their printers are not reprap material the printable parts are fewer in comparison to lets say mk3, and IMHO even them shouldnt be printed but casted. I mean i prefer a solid dependable in high temps and low tolerance motor holder or extruder case rather than something printed in petg and later have to change some of them to pccf. Just to justify Prusa saying "you can print our parts". As for the majority of the device it got away for easily available components line nozzles motors gears etc.
As for the cad models i was asking from day one in order to make an enclosure. In the end i stopped asking. Prusa is NOT open sourced in the degree and aspect it was when it started. And is not bad. But they should admit it and stop riding the open source train. Personally i dont mind if t he quality improves and the price drops.
RE: The XL is open source? When can we get CAD files for the printer to then design enclosures etc?
Prusa posted a long rundown and basically he gave up on open source. So all of us who bought these printers to buy into an open source product got at some level cheated. I am pretty angry at the company about it. I like my printer but I wanted to do more with it than just be a passive user.
