Spool Join Fails
On at least two prints I've had the spool join feature fail, not because of a failure of the firmware but because the tool1 filament would either not release from the depleted spool or would release with a nasty "hook" in the filament end that would not progress beyond entering the first filament sensor. In each of these cases the printer continued to "air" print that color.
The point of the spool join feature is to not "have to be there" to cut the filament end when the spool end is reached.
Has anyone experienced this and have solutions to the problem? I suppose rewinding a filament roll could eliminate the problem. Hopefully someone has another better solution.
Thanks.

wind their spools in such a way, that the inside end of the filament, is exposed in the hub of the roll, so you can cut it, when you first unpack the roll.
3Dqf currently do PLA, PLA+, PETG, ABS and will soon be adding ASA
old Prusament rolls used to have the dreaded hook...
modern Prusament rolls seem to be better
most other manufacturers seem to have the dreaded hook, or a sharp bend, which tend to defeat spool-join
when the spool is nearly finished, (last layer or two) I spin the spool to loosen the windings, and cut the end off... so far i have been lucky and not ended up with a tangle doing this

RE: Spool Join Fails
I have put my MMU3 on the Core One and have had it jam during the eject process. This is caused by the hook in the filament at the end of the spool. Some rewind a new spool so they can cut off the end.
I don't know if we will see it eliminated. Unless consumers make it a requirement. Start asking your suppliers and tell them it is a requirement to have a smooth end of the filament on the spool.
