Prusa XL Ikea Lack friendly?

Hello,

According to one of the sales representative on the chat, the XL with one toolhead weighs approximately 25kg. According to Ikea website, the Lack table can handle maximum 25kg. Would you consider it safe to put an XL on an Ikea Lack table? The spool and other toolheads will add some more weight.

No I wouldn't.  Its also much bigger than a lack table so its not going to fit regardless of the weight.

I can say that because I own four LACK enclosures: the LACK is a cheap POS. I wouldn't trust my expensive XL to a piece of cardboard and pressed wood. Not only because it may crumble by looking at it too hard, but also because of vibrations. My XL still sits unopened at home in the garage because I'm out of town for a while, but it will go on a proper heavy duty workbench.

You could build a nice solution for a XL with the IKEA BROR System

The whole thing would likely fall over due to the momentum of the printhead moving back and forth. If the XL print speed is half as fast as I think it would be, I would find a very stable location to place the machine.

Maximum non-printing X/Y speed is 400mm/s. And with any print, there are a lot of non-printing moves.

If you spend upwards of 2000 EUR for a printer maybe you should consider spending a few Euros more on a proper table or rack. LACK is not suitable for the XL (or a good choice for any 3d Printer to be honest, even though it is very popular).

Indeed 🙂
No seriously, Bror is certainly sturdy enough. I don't know about the measurements but that's easy to check. The only thing that should be considered is that the metal shelving boards are according to the manual supported by only a single central beam. That is not optimal for a printer. The easy fix is to take two additional support beams from two other shelving boards and notch them left and right of the central beam and then put a large enough stone or concrete slab on top. Then the BROR is a rock solid solution for 3d Printers, also heavy ones.
