RE: Prusa Delays
We will find out. I am nearly 100% certain someone will make it possible.
I would love to use my revos on the XL, but the blog post only states the adapter to a V6 Nozzle, not the whole hotend. I wonder if this is even possible with all the sensors?

RE:
My first thought too was E3D V6 would be swappable, but when you think about it, the extruder and the heat break are bound to be different- getting nozzle compatibility is good. But I'd rather have REVO nozzle compatibility? That is what the original looked more like. If they say V6 nozzles will work, the easily swappable nozzle architecture is gone, which is a step back.
Not totally in love with the REVO mini on my mini, so maybe that is for the best.
The V6 nozzle compatibility raises more questions than it answers....
ETA- releasing the mount and relevant electronics standards would be a great help in people making custom heads for the swappable system. Here's hoping that they do that at least soon.

RE: Prusa Delays
Again, they mentioned an “adapter”. Given E3D’s issues bringing a hardened Revo to market, and that Prusa collaborated with E3D on the CL hotend, I take it as a hedge that they may not have a native XL hardened nozzle at launch.
I saw on the E3D website that the 3rd wave of Revo ObXidian nozzles are not due until March 2023.

I have been following the issue of delays in this forum for a long time, the penultimate update has finally arrived and you are already thinking about changing the extruder,,,, THIS GENERATION OF PRINTERS IS MADE SO THAT HUMAN DEDICATES TIME TO DESIGN AND BUILD INVENTIONS AND NOT TO WASTE TIME ON A MACHINE THAT ALREADY WORKS,,, Whoever thinks that with the XL you have to spend time modifying the extruder or any other point and not enjoying printing your designs,,, let them dedicate themselves to making puzzles

It is an open source design that is intended to be modified and expanded in capabilities.
It is a five head swapable design designed so that you can use different materials and extruders.
maybe some people are planning on just doing five color, PLA prints, but a number of us I think are looking to do highly functional and engineered parts with perhaps even multiple materials that may need a harden nozzle.
The first rule of printer club is that you’re most likely to print things that are modifications for your printer. It’s also the second rule.

RE: Prusa Delays
While I agree in part, largely I want to "just print" and not tinker with my printer to make it "better". The 3D Printer, to me/for me, is a tool. In so much as I want to put together or make a drill, I just want my printer to do what I need it to - print plasticy bits of my design. When I first started, tinkering with the printer was fun and gave me a lot of learning experience... but there's a huuuuuge amount of people out there that want a plug and play experience instead, for the lifetime of their printer.

RE: Prusa Delays
My friend, changing a nozzle is not modifying a printer, it is as if you told me that you are a bike mechanic and you only know how to change the caps of the air valve on the wheels, the rules of the club you are talking about do not come into this generation of printers, if what you like is to modify a printer, why are you going to spend 2500 euros on a printer? to modify it??? Why don't you start a printer from the pillars and adapt it??? That club you are talking about was the one that made printers grow to the point where we are today, but I think that this printer is not focused on wasting time modifying it, because they have spent so many years studying the best way so that we can print without problems ( first perfect layer, change of tools, little maintenance...)Your mental health would appreciate investing the time to do something creative, that improves your life or the life of someone who needs it and not waste time modifying a printer that is built so that the user who buys it does not waste time on it

RE: Prusa Delays
You are not correctly seeing 3D printing or the XL printer.
Prusa is thinking the same way, but at least they are separating out the AFS from the XL tech. Their only hope is be the king of the hill of hobbyist printers while they try to pivot to the school/office are with the AFS. That is the ‘click and Christmas’ printing system. And these delays are not what enamor yourself to corporate clients. 3D printing is always going to be a geek hobby. The XL isn’t going to the be Apple II. And by the way the Apple II, Commodore 64, TI994A may have gotten computers into houses, but outside of wordprocessing, they were losing to gaming machines until the internet came along.

It looks like the competition is heating up! I don’t think it’s a coincidence Bambu Lab is teasing the P1P two days after the XL update. They are definitely going after Prusa. Ironically while using a reskinned fork of PrusaSlicer for their slicing software.

Decent update on the XL. There's so much potential in this machine. Just need to see some prints and updates on the tool change aspect. I'd love to gain confidence in that prior to parting with my money. Hopefully formnext provides a platform for that.

I think you will see it in action again at FormNext. Maybe a projected delivery date.....One can hope.
