RE: Prusa Delays
If you don't get enjoyment or have anything helpful to offer, it may be best for you to simply move on from threads where folks are expressing frustration and holding a company accountable to what that company promised.
Just out of curiosity, what was that promise that was made??

I know of zero promise. They did indicate that they plan to have an update before the end of the year. That, I did not see as a promise.

They are still quoting this on the website which I think is unlikely now considering there's just over a week to go in 2022.
Pre-order information: Original Prusa XL shipping is scheduled to start in December of 2022, new orders will be processed in the second half of 2023
RE:
I wonder how some here criticize the demands for the promises that can still be read in the blog articles.Just as an example here from the last blog: We’ll be back with another update before the winter holidays.
"Promise" or not but what does it look like
Anyway, I hope they get the issues with the XL sorted out quickly. Maybe they'll do an update this week, still few days to go.
RE: Prusa Delays
Since you are too lazy to send and email, I will do so and maybe I will share the results.

The next Prusa Live is tomorrow before the company takes their annual holiday week break. This will be the last time they will have an opportunity to address the XL this year.
I don’t think sending an email is an effective method to receive a proper response. A customer service email question will get a canned customer service response by an employee that will likely not have the most current info. We live an age of social media where questions can be addressed by higher levels of authority fairly quickly.

It has worked in the past. I hope you are right on the update.

Mr Bullet you seem to be a bit full of yourself.

I wasn't asking you the freaking question. How ignorant are you for not reading other posts before you comment? So, I will ask the question again, what did this company promise?

Deliveries, updates, and designs that they have walked back. It isn't an insane amount of things, but, each adds up. As they say, death by a thousand paper cuts. Small chips away from their built-up goodwill.
This thread is just a place for us to vent our frustrations at it, and, having some members be so belittling and rude to everyone else, instead of simply staying away, is equally off-putting.
I really don't care if I can go chasing a company for updates. That's not how it's supposed to work - doubly so when they've missed multiple planned shipping and update windows now. I get it, some people don't care and feel OK with having the burden on them to beg through email for common courtesy. I hold companies, ones that I've given my money to, to a higher bar.

RE: Prusa Delays
Now that is some funny stuff that I bolded below. Prusa CAN’T KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT about stuff. MMU2, Mini, now the XL. They are
I have asked on chat about it a few times. They just keep pointing me to the Blog posts that are out of date
I did not call any names. I did imply that people were whining and crying. It would be better if someone asked directly by email when the next update is coming rather than gathering allies of the Miserables on the forum. I did it last time and got a response in 2 hours. I don't need the info now.
My only point is why post every week "how terrible Prusa treats its customers." They like to keep info internal to the organization till they are ready to release a product. I think that is smart business sense in a day when companies from China like to copy your products. .
I have no need to move along, as the topic of discussion here interests me and the group of us are venting. You seem to take some offense to it, and resort to name calling and belittling attitude. Surely you have better things to do and would be happier elsewhere.
What help is all of the bellyaching? Why don’t you move along?
They don’t owe us? We’ll, at least they owe us a deposit. I mainly want them to keep up with what they said they’ll do. This is just on the communication side, not the actual production side.
I highly doubt Prusa looks at these forums a lot. Either send them an email or cancel your order. Actions speak louder than words.
Complaining and whining / crying on the forum probably will not get you what you want.
Couldn't agree more. Prusa doesn't owe anyone an explanation about anything. Take your money elsewhere.
RE:
The Prusa Live is now out, (to my surprise, I'll eat my hat later). "getting very close to shipping out the first round of external beta unit to testers for the XL" -Matt Stultz- So its good, it isn't the public XL's that will be shipping before the holidays but beta testers, but its progress and its communication! Very happy to hear.
"Machines are done, they are packed and leaving the company" - Mikolas Zuza. There was also a time lapse with a 5 tool head equipped XL, but nothing stated to what number of tool headed machines were sent out to the beta testers. My thoughts... a fully loaded system? makes more sense.
Mikolas quickly mentioned the next update was to be January. I'd guess the betas will be printing like very happy elves over the holidays while stock arrives at Prusa early Jan and more XL's are assembled. The feedback from the betas is most likely only going to change packaging, manual contents and software tweaks at this point. Hardware must be pretty set (crosses fingers).
RE: Prusa Delays
On the Prusa stream tonight Wekster looked like he had a XL in the Background. At least I think it was one.
But I also have seen Big Foot 🙂
RE:
Haha yeah I noticed that. Thought it was odd he was using an image of his room as the backdrop with it clearly in the background... but then switched to his real backdrop when there were image issues, which then had the XL hiding behind a massive gingerbread figure. [he wants people to know he already has one - he's an alpha tester??] 😉
Anyway...
RE: Prusa Delays
Yeah, I also noticed it was a single toolhead version.
RE:
I understand the wining about delays, but (even disregarding the chip and component shortage), I expected his delivery estimates were wildly optimistic.
The XL is a 3rd generation printer. All the other filament printers are Gen 2 (either bed slingers or core xy). This is not a Gen 2 large corexy machine. It is something new and more complicated.
What I am hoping is that Prusa won't go through an iterative design process (I3,I3/MK2, I3/MK3, I3MK3/s, etc). I would like the XL to be right the first time out of the box, and not the 3rd or 4th iteration. I have an I3/MK3/s kit and am not impressed by the level of engineering that went into this printer. I understand some of the issues were fixed in the s+. I am willing to wait until the bugs (both hardware and software) are worked out of this machine rather than have them turn out a buggy machine for the sake of delivery times.
BTW I understand some of the issues involved. I used to (way back) design large-format pen plotters, which are like 3D printers but no Z axis. Alas, large format plotters' were rendered obsolete by vector-raster software for large-format ink jet printers. I have an MSEE and lots of experience with software.

RE: Prusa Delays
Any guess on when units will start shipping? I preordered early on launch day so hopefully I will see it before March. My guess is they start shipping the day after Valentine’s Day. My only real concern is that it’s like the MMU and not ready when launched. I still have my mmu2 that I never installed even though I ordered when it was going to be MMU1.
RE: Prusa Delays
Who knows. Testers need a month to really test it out, and if they are single head ones, that isn’t good. Another month to get feedback, see any trends, and work up some solutions- and test them out. I’m a first day orderer and I’m hopeful to have it for next Christmas.
RE: Prusa Delays
Testers test nothing . what can they test with one head?
I feel that the prusa XL will be available with a head and to have more head it will be necessary to wait another X months
RE: Prusa Delays
We don't know what configuration were sent to testers. I would sincerely hope they sent multi-head units. It'd be kind of cool if Prusa was a bit more forthcoming with that, and if testing units actually did indeed ship out. Initial feedback could be pretty quick, but extensively testing hardware and software (especially if multihead) to make sure you have good test coverage will take some time. I wonder if they have a real test methodology or are just handing some folks some printers and asking them to go to town on 'em.
Either way, hoping for the promised update in January, maybe with some news on how testing is going 🙂
RE: Prusa Delays
We have every reason to think that he only sends one head.Besides, their video in the last live shows it clearly.
