price difference US and Europe

Could someone explain the enormous price difference between de US version and de European version?

two extruders:

NL Euro 2599 US version Euro 2,147.93

given that the Czech Republic is a lot closer to the Netherlands I would expect it to be cheaper then shipping it halfway around the world?

What am I missing?

US prices usually don't have taxes included, EU prices always have sales taxes included. EU price is pretty close to 1.25x the US price, is the VAT in NL 25%?

The difference in price is most often due to the income of the citizens of their country, conditions, and taxes. After all, the price of goods cannot be the same in Canada and Lithuania.

I've not looked closely at the XL, but normally the printer prices are quoted without shipping, so any comparison isn't impacted by where in the world you are.

That certainly explains a 21% price difference on the Prusa website!

RE: price difference US and Europe

Indeed, Dutch VAT explains exactly the price difference. The Dutch net price at 21% VAT is the US price, converted to EUR in the opening post. So the only difference is that Dutch prices have VAT included and US prices don't.
