RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I'm in for a 5 head, partially assembled. The wife and I were watching the intro video, and she said "When are you going to preorder?". That's the only push I needed..... 😀

I have to ask my wife for most purchases. Concurrence is better than the dog house. She asked me what I was waiting for.

This is what you get for printing cool specialty items for the wife and some of her friends. The 'amazement factor' always helps. I NEVER say it was easy... I just nod my head to the 'thank yous'.
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I pre-ordered one semi-assembled 5 tool head model, not so much for the size, but the for the tool heads and the possibility to mix materials in parts (PETG, TPU, water soluble support...).
I always wanted to do material mix and hoped for that with the MMU2... but MMU2 is more for color mixing in the same material.
And they promise "easy to switch nozzles" like the E3D Revo system...
I'm really excited... now it is just to wait 8-12 month for delivery 😉
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

That is one feature I glossed over but it really adds value.

RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Amazing stuff! Hopefully once they get the bugs worked out of the XL and have met the inevitable backlog of orders, we will see some of these advancements make it into the MK4. Specifically looking for:
- modular heat bed
- Nextruder
- jam detection
- High precision rails
- high capacity filament rolls
- filament driers?
- enclosure?
MK4 or mini is much more in line with my needs and pocketbook, but DAMN this machine inspires lust for the precious!
RE:
wife is actually traveling for work, so when we talked today I said “thanks for the birthday present“. My birthday is not until Q2. Now while quite a bit more than our standard birthday presents, I think she’s more than happy to be off the hook for trying to figure something out.
I think most of us are hobbyists here, it is kind of interesting that while we have all been waiting for this XL to come out, it’s a bit more than I think most of us had anticipated. But I still barely flinched to order the $3500 model. I’ve been agonizing over buying a used Leica camera in about that price range, for years. Haven’t pulled the trigger on that one, but did on this one. Just interesting side but thoughts on psychology.
really hoping for the ability to print PEEK with it as an option. It’s not like I need to fill the build volume with it, more if I could print test plaques and strength bars. Work stuff. The printers are my own personal toys, but I have some overlap with work related stuff. Enough overlap that I got my company to buy a Filabot as a lab extruder, that I’ll be able to play with in the evenings. With the size of this printer, I’m going to need to get cheaper filament somehow…..

@goran-m 6 printers printing at the same time will be faster than the XL.
Having problems with bed adhesion every morning...
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Read the blog post. I am pretty sure it a mentions wifi option.
I couldn't find any info regarding WiFi, would be glad to be proven wrong though.
The blog post mentions nothing regarding connectivity. And the store page explicitely mentions this:
Ethernet connection: built-in
Prusa Mini FW4.4.1
MAX TEMPERATURE?
Hello,
I pre-ordered this morning an XL with 2 heads
Do you know the max temperature reachable on the extruder?
What is the termistor? PT100?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
ok. I am 100% certain I read it somewhere and I am as certain that it will have the means to have wireless capability. The controller card has a threaded connector for an antenna.

Still waiting for the WiFi upgrade for the MINI... So I wouldn't hope for WiFi on the XL.
But as it has LAN I will just add a WiFi AP to connect to my WiFi ^^
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
It will come with Prusa Connect.

But Prusa Connect doesn't state that is will have WiFi. Prusa Connect only states that the printer will have network connectivity - but not the type.

If you print small things, but with this, you can print huge things.

RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I thought it was both touch screen and scroll wheel?
There will be high demand, so I secured a place in the queue too, even if I don't know where to place this beast. Would be interesting to know the external dimensions, but that's not been published, as far as I can tell.
I do find it a bit odd that there is no touchscreen. Will it be possible to control the printer from a built-in web interface or app?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Honestly I would prefer wired Ethernet (I have gigabit right behind where it will go for my octopi server anyway) way less glitching on wired networking, even with mesh wifi.

I agree. Bluetooth is OK for transfer, but not if it is a constant connection. WiFi is OK, but for a days long print? I’d much rather have wired.

Perso, I préfère wifi.
I want just not connexion for continue print. Connexion only for get status and start new print .

The Wifi would be to send the print from PC to the printer. Once the print starts, there would be no need for further connection, except for updates. So it's not crucial, if there are some minor delays in the connection.
