RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Looks great! Price is high but there is a lot of new tech in there.
Questions:
What firmware is it running?
Is input shaping supported?
If you buy a single extruder is the upgrade path to more easy?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I'm really excited about the XL. Just secured my place in the waiting queue. 😀
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
There will be high demand, so I secured a place in the queue too, even if I don't know where to place this beast. Would be interesting to know the external dimensions, but that's not been published, as far as I can tell.
I do find it a bit odd that there is no touchscreen. Will it be possible to control the printer from a built-in web interface or app?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
also pre#ordered, is there a way to see what number you have in the list ?
Can't wait to see more specifications and details, maybe some of the YT people are present at the fair and can we see some footage soon,
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I’m in.
Not cheap. Hope it is worth it. I started out with an assembled 2 head, but ended up with a ‘kit’ 5 head. I’d rather wait to buy heads, but I don’t want to get it, and then have to wait months for heads. I see at a minimum, a 0.4 head, a head for support and a 0.8+ nozzle to actually be able to build things that big in a reasonable time.
-Hopefully I’m in the get it soon, but not in the bloody-beta part of the curve
-This pretty much kills the 3 year project on the MMfU
Thanks to this forum. After contacting and working with the PRUSA people a few times, I still don’t get their newsletter/blast emails.
Did someone set up a delivery spreadsheet yet?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Preordered without hesitation. If that printer works as advertised, it'll be a beast with no comparison on the market.
Really excited about some independent reviews.
hw: PRUSA MINI+, FW 4.3.3 & Cr-10s w/ BLTouch, Ezboard, Hemerasw: PrusaSlicer 2.4, Windows 11
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
I'm in the pre order queue for 3 printers, 1 with 5 nozzle heads and 2 with 2 nozzle heads. Gonna be announcing this on my business website later today!
Holy sh8t i'm so excited!!!
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
wow... so cool!
I really like my mk3s. I've had it about a year and a half now. As much as I'd LOVE to buy this. I can immediately see I'd want the 5 tool head which is $3500... which then brings me back to reality and I'm like nope. Just can't spend that on something that I'm not making money on. Definitely a fun hobby. And I'll eagerly await as people get theirs and see reviews/posts when they eventually hit! (I'm late to the whole 3d printing group, but I don't want to be a tester on the new stuff, probably why I waited so long on the mk3s.) Super excited about the release! The good thing is this makes me realize I don't want to order the MMU (since it seems like that's probably going to die off) and eventually perhaps get the XL at a later time.
Lots of great features. I like the updated screen, though it almost seems like it could/should be bigger and also feature a touch capabilities. Almost looks like a mini color screen just turned horizontal.

just so happy i did not jump into the MMU2S bandwagon!
Product launch history
Very new to Prusa ownership here... got into the i3 when it's already been refined to the MK3S+.
What's the company's history on new product launches? Are they generally smooth, or do they tend to go through teething problems?
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
With the multiple tool heads and multicolor printing, will there be waste towers as for the MMU2?

There should be no need for it with individual extruders. Just small purge as each colour is active. Much like the E3D toolchanger.

Mmm just take a look through the initial posts on the mini forum if you want a realistic answer to that.

Thanks, I suspected that but I wanted to be sure.
So the five tool changer variant it is then!
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Will there be any issues with ordering from the UK?, I don't want to get stung by another huge bill from the courier when it arrives.
Normal people believe that if it ainât broke, donât fix it. Engineers believe that if it ainât broke, it doesnât have enough features yet.
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Just pre-ordered with 2 heads semi-assembled 🙂
Best regards, Peter

Has there been any mention of the external dimensions of the XL ? Can´t seem to find any.
RE: Original Prusa XL is out!
Nice with the bellows. Should make it easy to make an enclosure; just a lid on top of it all.

It’s not a bandwagon, its a cult, with a false god….

Haaaaa, Haaaa. Made me spit my coffee… When they say Q2/3, be prepared for Q4. If you think of it as next years Xmas present, you probably won’t be disappointed. Of course, the earlier you get it, the more likely you’ll have to tear it apart and update/grade something. That is only better than not getting a fix. You might at well get the semi-assembled version. That way you’ll be more comfortable updating something- or at the very least doing maintenance.
Even here in this thread, you can see people that are passing on it due to cost, while the mini was pretty accessible. That might keep the line length down, though you might get more institutions buys - but that is what the farm is for.

I didn’t either, but by one of the pics it looks like it is 2x the Mk3, so Big- because that is 2x in each direction. So eight-ish times the volume.
I won’t be grabbing this by the vertical frame to take down to the kitchen to print some stuff with the kids.
Investment Grade….
Here’s hope for a double length model, or even triple.
With that volume, Prusa should get a nice XMas card from the filament companies. Maybe Filabot…
