Now Shipping in... Q2 2023(!). Other alternatives?
Directly and clearly from Prusa rep we spoke to today.
"global chip / electronic component shortage" cited as reason.
Modix seems to have a decent product on paper but terrible sales team and very limited documentation / community of people actually using their machines in real life. Build plates also extremely expensive and limited seemingly relative to much smaller Prusa.
Anyone here considered or using alternatives for large format printing?
RE: Now Shipping in... Q2 2023(!). Other alternatives?
That shipping is for new preorders.
Alternative is voron 2.4 350 printer, however it is just a simple large scale printer not advanced like Prusa XL

I don't know what you mean by 'new pro-orders' since I thought the order book was closed and last we heard 'new' orders were going to be late 2023, so 2023Q2 would make more sense.
The last report IIRC was that some would go out later this year. It would seem that this is a push back on that date. When I placed the order, I knew that they weren't going to meet their 2022Q2 time frame and I thought that I'd have it my Christmas 2022. Right now, I think there are about a 1/3 chances or having it by Xmas 2023, a third that is delayed past that, and a third that Prusa faces reality and just pulls the plug. I hope that they put that deposit money into escrow so that it won't hurt that much when they have to refund the money.

I dont know, but I can clearly read this "Pre-order (new pre-orders will be processed in the 2nd half of 2023)" and preorder a new piece.

I was able to price out the Voron 2.4 from a wholesale perspective and @martind is right, it is just another large scale CoreXY printer. With the data I have been able to gather on the PrusaXL, I believe this can be considered a next generation machine.

I really hope that this is the case but for a company that don't even know or tell us when the current orders are going to be shipped or in what state is the product now -did they replaced the cycloid or not, did they solved their PS problems e.t.c.- "reassuring" us when the NEXT wave of order is going to start shipping is stup!d. They won't bother or can inform us of the actual progress but they easily calculate and tell us about the next batch of shipments? When i ordered SLS1, mmu2S and MK3S i waited for one to 3 months according to the product which it was in a mature an finished state. Its the first time i pre-ordered from prusa. Unless its finished polished and ready to be packaged i don't thing the XL is going to be delivered in Q1 2023. Also in their shop site it says that "new preorders will be processed in 2nd half of 2023". Processed NOT dispatched or readied or assembled. Heck our preorders were "processed" a year ago. Processed doesn't automatically means that the old ones will be dispatched. This confusion and hearsay is Prusa exclusive fault. Not because they are responsible for the global production chain problems, but for their lack of communication and updates on their customers. I mean come on... there is a whole blog page about printables analytics on their site and not a line about the XL.

The Zaribo ZLC looks much better than a voron in many aspects
