They've got a 2-tool XL at work, running v6.1.4 firmware. Under Control, there's a feature to pick/park a toolhead.

I'm finishing up putting together an XL of my own, and updated it to v6.2.0-RC1 before doing calibrations and such. (It's a dual-extruder that is single-extruder for now: When Nextruder #2 was assembled at the factory, they crushed one of the wires of the heatbreak thermistor between the heatsink and standoff, severing it. So that extruder is disconnected, and I did the setup and calibrations as a single-tool machine.)

I can't find the option in any menus to pick up or park the extruder. Is that just available on a single-tool machine?

I think the extruder is fixed to the gantry on a single tool machine so you can’t park it (if you look at the single to multi tool instructions you have to replace various parts on the gantry to allow different tools). As such if your machine is set up as 1 tool that’s probably why the option isn’t there.

Ok yeah that makes a whole lot of sense.

Yup. There it is.

Alright then, so once the second head is repaired and plugged back in, Pick/Park should show up again. The replacement thermistor should be getting delivered in a day or so.

can't edit previous comment...time limit I guess.

Just a quick update to confirm, yes that was it: I plugged in the second head and Pick/Park showed up again.
