Semi-assembled version - time to build?

Do we have any idea how much time it will take to put together the semi-assembled version of the XL?

As far as I can tell, there is no assembly manual available yet, but maybe there is some information floating around that I have missed?

Unofficially in late 2022 I was told approximately 5 hours, and more recently I was told approximately 3 hours. That seems too fast to me, but I'd be super happy to be wrong about that. I don't think we'll know for sure until they start shipping. There's an outside chance that a tester will post the amount of time, but I'm inclined to believe they're not supposed to do that.

If it really is in the vicinity of 3-5 hours, then great. It means it would come fairly modular.

Testers are receiving "fully-built" versions which only require the print head, LCD and spool holder to be attached.

I would guess that Prusa has a pretty good idea of the average assembly time by now, so it would be really good if they could let us know.

I sent them an email asking, and I got the feedback that they have not finished the manuals yet, but it will be mostly assembling larger units, so only a few hours, like @justin-8 mentioned.

They talked about this on the live stream today. Their own people could assemble it in about 45 minutes, but a first time builder (at least one that has some experience) should be able to do it in 3 hours, maybe less.

All fine by me! Now just continue the waiting game...

Took me just over 3 hours to build my Troodon 2.0 last Friday not including breaks and food…

3-5 hours seems about right if it is built in pre-sections in a similar way…

Yep, I saw that yesterday. Doesn't look bad at all, but there are of course a number of steps to do. I can absolutely understand that if a person knows the process by heart, it can be done in as little as 45 minutes.

I'm happy I ordered semi-assembled!

I ordered semi-assembled and 3-5 hours would be great, but isn't a $500 addon for assembled a bit steep at that point.  There is a $300 addon for the MK4 and that will likely be similar to the MK3S+ at 8 - 10 hours of assembly time.

Super slow and hot day in the workshop, chilling, admiring the machine and quadruple checking everything: 6h

Yes. Again, I deliberately didn’t want to stress or rush. It was super enjoyable. I swear the big bucket of Haribos didn’t sway my opinion.

It took me a good 5 hours. Including me fixing simple mistakes/oversights I made earlier in the building process.
