New to 3d printing having a lot of trouble with shifting and stringing

We’ve had our xl for almost a week. To learn the basics we’ve just been using files off printables. So far it’s been very inconsistent it may print a model fine then the next three it will shift very bad the first few layers then just cover the whole table in string. It must think it’s working fine because I’ll check on it with prusa connect and everything looks fine but when I go to see it in person it’s made a big mess.

prusa tech support seems to know less than I do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, we bought the xl because we needed the size to make obsolete parts.

X-Carriage Upside Down?

Pretty sure the X-Carriage on my XL was delivered mounted upside down. The three holes that align with the top carriage plate are on the bottom.

If confirmed that it is, how much pain am I to fix this?

First few layers are very bumpy & at the edge of bed completely failing to stick

Hello,

I have encountered this problem at one joint workshop (where you reserve your time slot for printer). The guy there didn't know how to help so I am asking here (I have now paused the print). So, I am printing houses for my architectural model. I have problem with first layers not printing properly, as you can see in the images. For preparation of one file made in Rhino, other part in sketchup (and exported as .slt and .obj and then combined in PrusaSlicer). I have sliced file into Gcode and I checked its 0.4 nozzle and PLA set correctly.

During printing, brim was failing on one corner, so repositioned my model (that fills up almost whole 36x36cm space) and exported Gcode again (and restarted print anew). Now brim started failing on the other side. I paused print, cut it with scissors and resumed. Again, this corner seemed to be problematic and during printing of 2nd layer completely failed. Also, as you can see, printing is not really "clean". Do you have any suggestions how to fix this?

Extruder Heating Profile

I have made several prints with my Prusa XL single-tool now. I have noticed that when the extruder is heating for PLA it heats to 170C, checks Z-axis, then sets extruder set-point to 70C. It cools off a bit then the set-point goes to 230C for printing. Why? The display says "absorbing heat" while all this is happening.

No Gummies! No USB drive either. :-(

My Prusa XL single-tool arrived with no gummies and no USB drive. Bummer. I had an emotional breakdown but I am over it now. 😀

New XL. Nozzle wont heat up.

Nozzle failed the initial check. Also wont heat up by preheating. Machine is updated and the hotend fans work. Toolboard light is green until the red error page pops up. Very sad.

Printed objects incorrect size

I printed a calibration cube that is 20 mm on each edge. Printed cube was 19.95 mm in X axis and 19.9 mm in Y and Z axis.

I need to dial-in a correction scaling factor for each axis. The "Object Manipulation" in Prusa Slicer will let me put in a scaling factor but it is the same for all 3 axes.

Also, I have multiple printers so this scaling factor is for this printer only.

How do I do that? I don't see anything in the printer GUI to scale axes (firmware 6.0.0+14794). I don't see anything in PrusaSlicer (PrusaSlicer-2.8.1+win64-202409181359) to do that.

Printer is Prusa XL single tool.

Layer shifting

Why is my print layer shifting?

We print two of these trays at a time, the pictures are of both, one has significant layer shifting, but only at a specific Z height and this is happening every print. We have tightened the belts, re-calibrated settings, replaced nozzle but this is still happening.

We have another XL with 2 toolheads which has no problems printing the same file.

Our next step is to re-slice with one at a time with different support settings, however is there anything else that might be causing this issue?

Single Toolhead, PLA 3KG reel, 0.6mm nozzle, smooth sheet, organic supports. Any info needed just ask.

Tiny XL wifi cable is driving me nuts

I am trying to connect the tiny wifi connector to the board and I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I've been at it for half an hour and I just can't seem to get it connected. Is there a trick to this?
