Reuse tags
How many times can the tags be reused? I'd imagine that peeling the tags off would affect the glue over time.
RE: Reuse tags
There are already a few prints that allow you to apply the sticker to a ring, then move the ring from one spool to another. I'm not sure what the rules are about sharing links in here, so apologies to mods.... this is a printables link: https://www.printables.com/model/1478740-openprinttag-ring-plate-wip and I remixed it to create a jig to help align the stickers. (I use 3M command strips to affix the ring to non-prusa spools)
RE: Reuse tags
Can always replace it with 3M double sided adhesive.
RE: Reuse tags
Seems like plenty of people are coming up with reusable spool adapters: https://www.printables.com/search/models?ctx=models&q=OpenPrintTag

Say it can but doesn't necessarily mean it does. Can anyone confirm if it's working? I have some tags arriving today. I'll give it a go after work.
RE: Reuse tags
It seems that if you scan an existing QR code from an already-programmed tag, you can replicate that; however, you cannot create an original tag with the app yet.
RE: Reuse tags
Another thing I’m curious about is whether or not the tag will survive a filament drier at 80C for 6-8 hrs.

150°C. This is mentioned in the article about the tags:

Oh, interesting! What info can you change in an existing tag then?

At the moment, if you are using the Prusa App, you only have the ability to edit how much filament is left on the spool (by weighing it). Apps like NFC.cool allow you to edit the other fields or create tags from scratch.
RE: Reuse tags
Confirmed that the tags can handle an 80° dryer for 8hrs but the adhesive gets softt and the tag will fall off the spool if attached on the outside. The adhesive/tag is still OK to attach once it has cooled. Probably a good idea to use a spool adapter and remove it before putting the spool in the dryer.
RE: Reuse tags
That is good news. I wondered the same thing.

Adaptor holder for your dryer?

It's not actually news but a few months old. This thread was revived today by "Trisha", who has a habit of posting to older threads, with messages that just paraphrase some earlier post in the thread. Looks like an attempt to use AI-generated posts to build some credibility (or at least the obtain the right to post without moderator supervision), to post spam or adverts later.
