Sudden Y-Axis shifting
Hi,
I printed for a very long time with my Prusa i3 1.75 (should be MK1), and I am happy with it, but it's two or three days it is shifting on the Y-Axis.
It happens when it reaches like 4 or 5 cm height on the Z-Axis, but it doesn't happen for smaller prints.
When You print bigger objects, it shifts a bit every 4 or 5 cm, so if you print an object of about 14cm, you will see two or three shifts at almost regular intervals.
Any clue?
Thank you all
Re: Sudden Y-Axis shifting
Can you please post a photo of the printer with a model on the bed displaying the shift?
Thanks
Peter

Re: Sudden Y-Axis shifting
Hi PJR,
thanks for your reply,
Attached are both a pic of the printer and model, as well as a closer look at the model. As you can see there are two "shifting". And this happens with every model, even if I print at lower speed.
Could it be filament (PLA) dependant? I changed the filament with a new one and never had a clean print with this

Re: Sudden Y-Axis shifting
Unfortunately, Z-lift is not "supported" on the Mk1, but it may well help with your problem.
I used Z-Lift without issues after placing spacers in the gap above the nuts on the Z threaded rods (see blue arrow):
You could try this "fix" and re-slice with a Z-lift of 0.5mm.
Another possibility is that the cables from the bet are catching on something during Y movement.

EDIT: Thinking about it, the spacers may have been under the nuts, but there is a small gap which needs filling 😉
