Prusa Link on Prusa Mk3.5 - questions
I am running Prusa Link on my upgraded to Mk3.5 Prusa Mk3s. On the Prusa Link web page I see menu headers for Dashboard and Storage, but I do not see the Control and Cameras menu headers that I see in screen-shots of Prusa Link. Some questions :
- Prusa Link screen shows Prusa Link Beta - how do I know what version of Prusa Link is running? Is there a way to upgrade?
- How do I add the webcam to Prusa Link?
- Why are the Control And Cameras options missing?
Here is my system :
- Prusa Mk3.5 (upgraded from Mk3s), firmware version 5.2.2
- Mk3.5 printer is connected to my LAN via both Et and Wifi
- Raspberry Pi (connected to LAN via both Et and Wifi) running OctoPi with an attached webcam - the webcam is working in Octopi
- Raspberry Pi connected to Mk35 printer via USB
- Firefox browser on Ubuntu Linux
RE: Prusa Link on Prusa Mk3.5 - questions
And here is a new wrinkle - Prusa Link no longer shows a preview of the file being printed - just a question mark. The file is a standard gcode file generated by PrusaSlicer 2.7.2.
RE: Prusa Link on Prusa Mk3.5 - questions
We switched the image format to save precious RAM. I am not familiar enough with the firmware to tell you what might be happening there, it should be showing it tho
RE:
I get why one would to keep using OctoPrint. I have a reason to believe we can become better at UX, but it will take time
RE: Prusa Link on Prusa Mk3.5 - questions
I am on the fence here - I would like to see Prusa Link succeed and I will keep re-visiting it as new versions come out (how will I know?!). On the other hand, I would like to see support of Octoprint on the Mk3.5 improve.
As far as UX goes - you are never going to please everybody (as I'm sure you well know). There are things about the Octoprint UX that I think could be improved as well, although Octoprint has the advantage of having been tuned up for quite some time.
I should probably move this dicsussion to the Prusa Link and Prusa Connect section of the forum.
RE: Prusa Link on Prusa Mk3.5 - questions
I don't read any other sections, so assuming we are in that section of the forum. People ignore the subcategories anyways.
Anyways, the biggest problem i see now is that one can try to accomplish one thing in many ways while interacting with connect. And keeping each path polished is tedious. I wonder how could we make it so one set of rules applies to every path.
You can print a file by drag and dropping it on the printer screen, or into connect files and clicking print, you can upload&print from the slicer through connect, you can upload&print straight into the printer. You can upload it straight into the printer through a flash drive or slicer, but then click print, or add to queue, or schedule it in connect.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback
