And to follow the above... it does work! Setup a USB rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d/99.usb-rules to lock in the serials and ID. Then followed the rest of Chris' video (which is a visual of the Prusa github guide), and it all works.
Having the cameras apart on the desk, noted differences in the camera PCB's. The green was the older camera that has a 'unique' serial. Whereas the blue is the newer one, that appears to have the 'universal' serial. Running change I guess!
Seems that as long as it's a mix of old/new or all old C270's, then they are fine on a multi-instance. Just can't be all of the newer ones, as there is no way to differentiate them.
