Wrong filament message

Hey,

since few days I receive the message, that I have the wrong filament inserted. Am running the Alpha 5.0.0

am not sure if it is related to the firmware . But am printing PLA and the slicer setting is generic PLA.

when starting the print it gives me everytime a warning. Didn’t know there is a filament cross check. Did I enable it by accident?

have tried to reslice, but message still occurs at the beginning of the print.

further, the right material has been loaded, so not sure what the system is measuring.

Has someone else had this issue before?

thanks and best regards Torben

RE: Wrong filament message

When you loaded the filament, and the printer asks for filament type, did you accidentally select something other than PLA?

Try unloading and reloading and making sure to select PLA on the printer.

Hey OB1,

just cross checked and loaded the filament as PLA.

The warning did. no longer occur. Thanks for seems. Obviously a user error, but really nice to know about this cross check of the printer 🙂

Best regards Torben

RE: Wrong filament message

I just received this same warning when I accidentally tried starting a print without any filament loaded. I could have sworn I picked the correct type PETG when loading, but something must have gotten out of sync as I started getting the warning message on gcode files that I previously did not have problems with. What ended up fixing it for me was to just hit the change button on the warning screen and unload and reload the filament.

RE: Wrong filament message

Hello, I have the same problem with PETg filament.

But also with others, for example nGEN, which I have been using for years. There is not even nGEN in the printer profile.

MK3 never gave me a problem... is there a way to cancel the stupid message so that it checks the filament...

I need to start the prints remotely without interaction.

Thanks

RE: Wrong filament message

Hello again.

SOLUTION:
- just enter 4 letter "PETG" in prusa slicer in filament tab

and that's all. Printer after that didn't worry about wrong filament

Would be great if, upon answering "ok"/ print anyway option, the printer would update the filament type, instead of repeating the error on each new print until you manually unload and reload the filament because that is the only way to make the printer happy.

(I use a TPU that should be printed at PLA temp, nowhere near FLEX loading temp. That's the origin of the problem. I know I could work around it by just using custom PLA profile).

I was just about to create a new topic, but this seems like a good place to ask my question.

I just did a print with PETG loaded, that I sliced for PLA. Second time in a couple of months. It would have been really nice if the printer didn't let me do this. I think I have all of the checks turned on. Is the printer supposed to prevent this sort of thing?

RE: Wrong filament message

I am getting this when printing TPU. When I load the filament, there is no TPU option, so I select FLEX. This used to work just fine, with this latest FW update it requires action to print, and this menu is unclear which option means print.

RE: Wrong filament message

I use a TPU that says "never approach or surpass 235 celsius", so when I load it, it overheats. It works, but I always end up sneezing and am pretty sure I'm inhaling some toxic crap as a result of this forced workflow.

I think the ideal is to aim for a foolproof system that allows the user to print absent-mindedly and have the printer catch whether the right filament is loaded or not, BUT, crucially, to have some menu option to disable this and let the user do whatever they want.

RE: Wrong filament message

When I load Fiberlogy Fiberflex 40D I choose PLA on the display of my MK4. When I choose FLEX as filament type the extruder will skip. Then I slice with the default profile for that filament that comes with PrusaSlicer. I have done this several times. It works for me. No error message. I am on firmware 6.0.4 but I have been using this method for some time now, also with earlier firmware versions.
