TURN INPUT SHAPER - OFF

I'm having problems with quality of my prints and changes since I upgraded to 5.0 with input shaping. This is especially relevant for my prints where I'm using fuzzy skin. They are different from the previous versions. Can someone please tell me how to turn input shaping OFF on the MK4 with the latest firmware?

Thanks

RE: TURN INPUT SHAPER - OFF

I do have perfect prints with input shapeing. But fuzzy skin is another story. Input shapeing is smoothening the surface (edges). Fuzzy skin is just a rough surface which get smoothed by input shaper. No wonder it looks different.

RE: TURN INPUT SHAPER - OFF

thanks everyone for you replies. @hello i actually didn't know you needed to add a new printer as an input shaper profile. I thought the change was purely firmware. So actually i was running the original MK4 profile instead of the MK4 with input shaper. So some observations:

1. It has not been communicated well that to get the input shaping benefits you need to add new printer profiles. I think Prusa documentation etc should address withi with better communications in the software with a pop up for MK4.

2. The original profile changed after i installed 5.0 firmware on MK4 and kept the original profile with fuzzy skin. It is definitely not printing the same as the previous firmware.

3. Input shaping with fuzzy skin seems to work like previous settings once i changed the profile to include input shaping.

I hope this helps new users.

RE: TURN INPUT SHAPER - OFF

I asked about this when it was originally announced, i was told its a setting IN the printer (when it was beta, i am sure they showed a menu picture), i cant seem to find it, so how is it disabled?

Many Thanks

RE: TURN INPUT SHAPER - OFF

The firmware upgrade allowed for input shaping. As there is not an accelerometer in the print head, the data for the input shaping is based on tests performed on Mk4's by Prusa.

Input shaping for the Mk4 should be considered a printer configuration, not a firmware feature. To that, Input Shaping is "enabled" by using the Mk4 Input Shaper printer in the Prusa Slicer.

Without that printer used in the G-Code, Input shaping will not be used by the printer, regardless of the firmware.
