RE: First Layer issues
For me, the Mk4 has been nothing else than fire and forget. It lays down an amazing first layer every time!

But that’s the worst possible solution who knows whether u have to raise or lower the live Z before it starts printing - the load sensor is not always “too high” or “too low” - it’s not predictable … and who wants to do live-Z for every single print… that’s so last decade 🙂
Keep the knob pressed when it moves from the bottom left corner to the print area, before it starts the first layer (or even after it started). You can adjust live z

Show off 🙂
To me it’s a tolerance issue with too much random dependencies on cleanliness of nozzles, filament type (eg how much it oozes) and load sensor sensitivities. For some, it will work, for some it won’t

Don't want to draw attention away from complaints! Just want to give a positive example that when it works, it works really well and reliable. Can't say what's wrong of course
Have only printed PLA so far so definitely not tried the entire range of possibilities!
RE: First Layer issues
Same here as long as I use the smooth sheet. I will let you know how well the texture works next weekend.

Also had severe first layer problems on my mk4, factory assembled.
I had to adjust my nozzle, loosened the two screws and every so slightly moved it closer to bed. And re-tightened.
Not sure if thats the correct way but it seems to help.
