On the Prusa Podcast on August 30th, Josef said it should be out on Friday September 1st, or Monday the 4th.
When the first thing that came out of his mouth was "Friday", I thought for sure he was trolling us 🤣

I think some issue must have been found at the last minute because source code for 5.0.0 stable has been published to GitHub for over a week now (see https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/releases/tag/v5.0.0), but a release did not get done after the source code tagging.

My prusa MK4 counts 2x more time in print statistics. If I do a 3 hour print, 6 hours are added into statistics. I´ve reported to them in the chat. Maybe that is one of the problems that delayed it.

Perhaps this isn't an input shaper limitation, but I've noticed that when starting a new print, the nozzle cleaning step will fail. I believe this is because my spool is heavier and is confusing the load cell tester. Once printing begins, all's well. I usually have to run an auto home before each print.

Perhaps this isn't an input shaper limitation, but I've noticed that when starting a new print, the nozzle cleaning step will fail. I believe this is because my spool is heavier and is confusing the load cell tester. Once printing begins, all's well. I usually have to run an auto home before each print.
I isolate the filament pulling from the spools using a PTFE tube setup anchored at both ends See picture below. The "pull up in Z" effect on the head assembly is eliminated when pulling tight/stuck filament. Feeding the filament directly from an overhead roll, it can pull up when the filament is stuck on the sides. With my setup I have had it collapse the PTFE tube when pulling stuck filament from the end of the spool and it did not leave any flaws in the print. Nextruder does the job.

It is what they said. So, I assume as well something somewhat significant was discovered. They want to get it right and I understand and support but I am ready for some of the issues that I am seeing get hopefully addressed. The slow upload speeds is weighing heavy on my please fix list. I am also seeing some weird z offset calibration issues periodically where I need to stop the print, clean the bed and reprint.

I'm running 5.0.0RC and 2.6.1 PrusaSlicer, and I've noticed that for a few prints that is set with Input Shaper, I get the reboot. Print stops, nozzle doesn't move and the MK4 just reboots back to the home screen. If I try and print, it stops in the same spot the 2nd time. Its usually towards the first couple of layers that it would stop. One of the files I did end up just using regular settings and it printed fine. Just only Input Shaper is when I get the reboot.
I know the Alpha had reboot issues but I didn't see anything about the RC still trying to resolve this.

There's a thread about z offset calibration issues. I've been having problems with it for a long time. The nozzle cleaning process and it staying clean during bed leveling is not very reliable, especially with ooze-y filmaments. I was cleaning the sheet like it's going into surgery but it was still not working well.
My solution lately is to detract a good 4cm before nozzle cleaning and bed leveling. This seems to work *most* of the time, which is better than half of the time.

Good to know. My solution was to clean the nozzle seconds before that process and it works about 40% of the time. I will try your approach. Hopefully this will be addressed in the upcoming firmware and profile updates.

Looks like I spoke too soon... so I was prototyping a multi tile Gridfinity base for my old IRIS cabinets, and the first two came out perfectly, though I had forgotten to set the tolerances for the dovetails so they were a B to cram together. I whipped up another test, and... well, the pics tell the tail:
The print was well adhered to the build plate (PETG on a smooth plate? Darn straight it was firmly in place) yet for those lat few layers everything shift sideways. AGAIN.
I need to get the printer back to the rock solid builds I was getting with 4.7.2, so I'll likely downgrade tonight. Reluctantly, because I see the promise of the 5.0 firmware, it's just those darn stability issues that have me wanting slow and steady so I can at least finish that race. 😛

I would be seriously shocked if there's not a 5.0-RC2... and being a glutton for punishment I'll give it a shot, but I would be wary if they release a 5.0.no.

I had similar issues but on stable firmware. I was only getting the problem with PETG, sometimes some massive layer shifts. Discovered that PETG was oozing to much, it would then leave a blob on the print, next time the nozzle swept past it, it knocked the axis out. I ended up adjusting retractions, lift Z etc. Haven't had a problem since.

Yes, nozzle cleaning helped me as well. I try to (if I remember), clean it by snipping off any ooze when I remove a print. That way I don't have to hang around the start of a new one, and with the 4cm detract, it seems to work most of the time.

I see it with everything... PLA, PETG, TPU. Though it's less with PETG and TPU because, I think, somehow the textured sheet is more ooze friendly.
