Awesome. The issues that I was seeing with 5.0 appear to have been addressed. I was seeing a weird z offset issue and the slow upload. Both appear to be addressed. The upload speeds are still slow but tolerable. Thank you!!!!

🖐️Hi,
I have now downloaded the new firmware with input shaper. This may sound silly, but do I now use MK4 Input Shaper as the default in Prusa Slicer?

Should the previous printer preset be removed when adding the IS printer, or can it still be used?

Wow, I have just performed my first print since updating the firmware and was AMAZED at the speed it printed.
It's one thing to see it in hours/minutes but to actually watch it in motion is incredible. The print time was halved on a gift box I had previously downloaded.
Wonderful, and I hope it continues that way.
RE:
Hi!
Does that mean estimated print time is not the same as the printer needs?
Because PS does not know what FW the MK4 has...
Is there an option to turn input shaper ON? What do I have to do?
Do I have to play around at "Printer settings" / Mashine limits" / feed rates, acc..?
Josef forgot to talk about that.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
You need to add a 'new' printer. That should be the one with input shaper. You'll see it next to the 'old' MK4.
RE:
Hello,
The estimated print time was half of the print time before the I.S. firmware was installed. This has meant that the gift box I referred to was originally estimated at 2h 25 on my MK4 as it was delivered, but with the updated firmware the new print time was 1h13. The extruder moves at lightening speed. So fast that I expected it to miss layers or skip somewhere but it's as smooth as silk. The print finish is improved as well.
All I did was install the firmware onto the USB that came with the printer also updated the printer list in the Prusa Slic3r. After slicing the STL file all I had to do was insert the USB into the printer, press the 'reset' button which is just below the knob and the MK4 took care of everything.
I too am thankful to not have had to mess with settings etc.

Hello. Is it necessary to do a factory reset? I had been using the RC versions of IS.
RE:
I upgraded to Slicer 4.6.1, added the new printer MK4 Input Shaper. Sliced that benchy .stl found on printables. The slicer reported 1100 errors with the file and fixed them.(odd) I specified 15% infill, 0.20mm SPEED. PETG filament. Now the benchy print time is estimated in the slicer at 46 minutes coming down from 1 hour 3 minutes on the old profile. ~15 minutes quicker? Am I missing something? I was expecting a much faster print.

RE:
Hello again,
Firstly I must apologize for the misinformation in my earlier post. I had previously sliced the file using my other printer an i3 MK3S.
That said HOWEVER, below are two screen captures showing the real print time comparisons between the MK4 and the MK4IS for the Christmas Gift Box referred to. A drop in times from 2h3m down to 52 minutes is pretty excellent to me.
As for the update to include the IS firmware, I simply referred to the manual and followed instructions. As I never tamper with printer parameters I wasn't concerned to perform the 'reset'.
I hope this helps anyone still insure of installing the new upgrade. I am no 3D techie and all this till amazes me.
I hope no-one thinks too badly of me.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
Well I can't explain the benchy performance but far more important to me is my own designs and the printing of them. One design which used to take 4 hours 20 min now should now print in 2 hours. I'm trying to print it now. I'd say that's fantastic.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
Hello agan,
Yes, it seems very strange. I sliced the 3D Benchy myself without any adjustments and in PLA and it came out at 53m. I went on to re-slice a model called 'Running Horse' with full supprts which I printed on first receiving the printer in June. It originally took over 15 hours but the new print time is 9h 33. It's a brilliant reduction for me. Maybe it only shows it's true colours in the longer prints.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
PETG is usually limited with volumetric speed, not by the printer movement. You can switch that in the slice view of PrusaSlicer.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
The wifi on the printer would not connect after upgrading. After a lot of messing around I tried deleting the prusa_printer_settings.ini, rebuilt that file from nothing, and also saved the file with windows latin 1 encoding not UTF=8 when I was editing it on the computer. This was on Mac. I can't say for sure this is the problem. Perhaps I just kept trying and trying got past some bug.

I don't know if anyone has had the same problem as me, but during the self test with this firmware the X axis always fails and it happened that during a print it detected a false collision, for this reason I went back to the alpha version 4 (the RC should be identical to this one and therefore I preferred to avoid it in case I will do some tests) and everything worked perfectly again, I would be curious to know if others have encountered this problem. PS. Between the 2 firmware versions it changes just how the test is performed.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
I am having two problems. They didn't happen right away after updating the firmware to 5.0.0 and the IS printer profile in Prusa Slicer 2.6.1, but are now happening pretty regularly. First, my prints are translating on the bed like 50-70 to the right. And if the translation goes outside of the print bed area, the extruder just slams and drags as it continues to try and probe where it can't reach. Also, the nozzle cleaning often times takes a long time or fails. I have tried running the full test a few times to fix these problems, even that test is running inconsistent. It hung up on the bed heater test once, didn't even seem to try to test the Y and Z axis before failing them, then tested fine a different time. A little frustrating, I had only a handful of problems with my MK3 while owning it for a few years and putting 10kg of filament through it. Now I have owned my MK4 a few months and have had a couple dozen issues with printing with it. I am obviously going to have to go back to previous firmware, speed isn't as important as reliability to me.

@tim-10 I think the screws on your belt pulley are not properly tightened.
RE: 5.0.0 Firmware for Original MK4/MK3.9 is out now!
@janger Benchy is largely about cooling. It is slowed down significantly by minimal time per layer setting. You will see bigger difference with larger objects or more pieces of small objects. Also PETG has lower max volumetric speed by default.
