Extruding Problems

Hi,

I keep encountering the same problem while printing, regardless of the model. The extruder does not click, but makes a different noise that is difficult to describe. During this noise, the gear wheel on the Z-axis always turns back a little. Does anyone here have an idea how I can fix this?

RE: Extruding Problems

Ahh, extrusion problems and the mini seem to be synonyms.

How long have you had this mini and how long have you been printing?  It seems there have been more problems with earlier versions of the mini.

What can you check?  If the extruder gear is too tight it can grind the filament and create dust which clogs the gears and can make the filament slip.  Check for clogged gears and if necessary clean them.

The fences around the green first layer suggest poor bed adhesion which could be a function of extrusion also.

Another issue could be the PTFE tube in the hot end, after many prints the tubing can shrink and create a gap in the bottom of the heat break that can create a partial block that prevents full extrusion.  Then again if you've used some bargain basement filament you could have picked up some debris which has clogged the nozzle, this could be solved by a cold pull.

Cheers
