bad first layer
I can't get my first layer to print correctly. This is what I get. What's causing it? Please help. Picture attached.
Thank you,
Erick
It looks like you are overcompensating for a dirty print sheet; what filament is this?
Begin by washing the print sheet with dishwashing detergent (Dawn/Fairy) and plenty of HOT water, handle by the edges only.
Then re-run the first layer and show us the result.

Polytera PLA. I'll wash it again. Thank you.
RE: bad first layer
Nozzle way too low, as given away by the wave pattern.

I think you're right @fuchsr but those splits on the crests are unusual.

RE: bad first layer
I've ordered a new build plate. The one I have is just over 3 years old. I'm washing the current one in the dishwasher tonight and will run tests on it tomorrow.
Noooooo - get your hands dirty^h^h^h^h^h clean.
The dishwasher cycle is not going to be kind to the print sheet and the 'Extra Sparkle' additives will have to be washed off afterwards. For a drastic clean rub dishwashing detergent, neat, into the surface, wait ten minutes and then flush it away with very HOT water. Dry with a fresh paper towel and handle by the edges only.
