Z Axis motor was bound - should I grease something?
After a few idle months, the Z axis wasn't moving (it would buzz a little instead). I removed its two anchor screws and was able to break the bind by rotating the motor by hand. It now seems to function properly for some test activity. Should I grease something to prevent this going forward?
RE: Z Axis motor was bound - should I grease something?
Sounds like maybe a stray hair of filament, from either stringing or purging, might have gotten caught in the lead screw. I suggest giving the printer a good looking over and dusting, then grease the smooth rods of all the axes. Going forward, just give a quick visual on the lead screw and make sure there's no impacted dirt, filament, or other debris in the threads. Turn the lead screw by hand and lift/lower the Z axis completely a few time, see if it's rough anywhere and inspect to see if there's anything.
I think I know, I donât think I know. I donât think I think I know, I donât think I think.
