White stuff on the outside of the fan of a Prusa Mini
Dear printing experts,
owning my first 3d printer for a few months now, I am getting the hang of it more and more, using it on a regular basis. So far have been printing PETG (80% of time), TPU/ Flex (15%) and some PLA (5%) - and noticed some white deposit/ coating on the outside of the printer fan. I first thought it was dust, but then realizes that the fan is actually blowing in the opposite direction (wind is flowing left to right, on the picture below). So if it was dust, it would e sticking on the other side. Also, it is quite sticky, I tried wiping with my finger, but as you can see, it only left a small mark/ wipe.
Any ideas what this is? Is something wrong?
Thank you in advance for your expertise! Best, Philipp
Static charges and fine dust accumulate in awkward places then any grease/protein/breakdown products fixes it in place. Most will shift with a fine brush and a blower and/or vacuum but some may need a wipe down with alcohol. It won't affect printing until there is a big build up - but look out for it on fan blades where it can alter the profile and interfere with flow.
Cheerio,
...
Thank you Diem for your response - I did expect something like that, but just in case/ not wanting a fire in my office, thought I should ask the experts. Have a great week!
Mine look the same
It have gone thru about 4kg PLA, 3kg PETG and about 1kg of ABS.
