What machine model?

Hi can anyone help me?

I'm trying to find out what model this prusa printer is. Looking at purchasing it second hand.

Thank you in advance.

RE: What machine model?

that's a Chinese clone. not a real 'Original Prusa i3' it's probably based on the  Mk1 / mk2 versions of the prusa
I would look at that as a project parts donor... rather than a 3d printer.

I had one similar, and never got it running satisfactorily.

Admittedly, I already had a fully working printer so there was no huge incentive to get the Geeetech Prusa i3 pro working...

the perspex frames are not very robust,
Mine had:-

no cover on the Power supply connections (Exposed 240volts connectors) and
No cover on the Controller board
Little in the way of strain relief on the wiring, and
an extruder that was very difficult to load.
this one, at least has a part cooling fan, which mine did not.
It looks like the left hand, Z axis Smooth rod, is missing a retaining plate, on the Z axis Top plate, and it looks like the smooth rod is not properly seated.
there doesn't appear to be any 'Automatic Bed Levelling' sensor. so there probably isn't a bed levelling capability.
the heat bed does not appear to have been used much....  suggesting that the printer is not working well

It is probable that the controller will not accept 'Original Prusa Firmware', so you either need to configure your own changes, or find the manufacturers firmware updates. there may be a support group out there, but I have no idea what it is.  (Certainly when I got My Geeetech, the support was negligible, to say the least)

If you really fancy buying the printer, I would suggest that you ask the current owner to demonstrate it working!
regards Joan

As Joan put, that is an I3 clone from China.  It is a tinker machine.  If you like to tinker, it might be fun.  Good luck.

Joan thank you fore your helpful reply.
Its priced at $250 au seller says working fine but I'm thinking as I know little, if anything at all, regards 3d printers I'm better off leaving this one alone.

Possibly its better for me to purchase one of those twin filament kit printers of ebay for 280 to 350 dollars and build one up.
I may end up learning what i need to learn and have a better printer to start with?
Thank you once again.

RE: What machine model?

Good luck on the project.

I think that this is a good example of what the instructor meant when he said 'There are cheaper clones out there, but you get what you pay for.' when at one of the first 3d print classes I took the subject turned to which printer to buy.

When the time came I bit the bullet and ordered (and paid for) the original, and I have been forever glad I did.

Looking at the above machine I'm seeing a rat's nest of wiring (which could probably be cleaned up, I'm sure) and a heat bed which is leveled by springs and machine screws.

RE: What machine model?

I think your money would be better invested in a more modern machine, with an aluminium frame.

as a newbie, a new machine with manufcturer support may be a good idea, preferably one with an active usergroup

Have you asked on the Newb forums, if there is anyone near you, using a 3D printer who may be prepared to be a mentor.
Often having someone that you can contact with a similar machine can reap rewards...

Also, if you have anything in your area like a community makerspace or technology collective, they usually offer 3d print classes and often have machines that the members can use.  That is how I learned to 3d print.

At our local makerspace, members can sign up for four hour time blocks on printers, as well as other techie toys such as engravers, laser cutters, etc.
