Underextrusion after 4.3.4 firmware update

Weird problem, just updated the slicer and firmware, was using the RC firmware since changing the extruder.  Was working perfectly until the new firmware update.

Setup is Prusa Mini+ Kit running octoprint with bondtech heatbreak, internal filament sensor extruder, capricorn inside the hotend, silicone sock on hotend.

Issue is that some prints under extrude, I have ruled out the slicer, and believe it is firmware.  To test I have been heating to 230 and disconnecting the hotend bowden tube and measuring extrusion.  When it is underextruding prints it will extrude 76mm exactly when asked for 100.

Hidden settings menu has the correct 415 steps and direction set as wrong.

To solve, I have reset to default, then reset it to 415, saved and then reset. Then it will extrude 100mm on the dot.  So despite the steps being correctly displaying in the settings it appears to me to be reverting back to the default steps but not direction somehow.

I have no idea what is causing this though.

RE: Underextrusion after 4.3.4 firmware update

I have read your post several times and I'm still not sure what exactly is the problem.
If I understand correctly, you say Mini extrudes 76mm instead of 100mm, even E-step value is 415? That would indicate, that still 325 E-step value is used. Maybe you forgot to reset to factory defaults?
About direction.. If you swapped wires on connector (when installing Bondtech extruder), then you should use "Prusa" direction (not "wrong").
But as said, maybe I misunderstood everything.

Yes, the esteps value was 415, yet it extruded 76.  I set it to default, then back to 415 and after a reset it extruded 100.  Then after a few successful prints it under extruded and I measured 76 again and the esteps value was still 415 and I had changed nothing.  Needed to click on default then set it back to 415 and it worked again.  So something is going wrong or there is a glitch in the matrix.

No I did not change the wires, hence having it set to 'wrong' so that it works right with the bondtech extruder.

have you tried to reset the printer to factory standards? (my default action after a FW upgrade)

I reset the extruder to factory, then back to the right amount for the bondtech.  No haven't done a full factory reset, would that require the firmware to be reflashed again?

no, you are just resetting all parameters to factory default (you will have to redo calibration of the Z value)

Yeah it did it once or twice and then not again, I may have re done the flashing process, can't remember but it hasn't repeated the problem again, sorry
