I found a random redit post that said to put USB in, press the reset button and then double press the knob. This might be common knowledge, but not to a rookie like me! This forced it to flash. I was able to flash it using an older version of the firmware.

I just tried to update firmware on a Mini Original to the lasted version (Firmware 6.2.4).

When I boot it goes through the bootloader verify screen, then this screen appears and it goes no further. 

 

Note that the orange bars on this screen do not move or load and then pause. Rather this is how the screen looks from the moment it appears.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
