Steel sheet profiles

Hi all,

I searched but couldn't find any posts on this so here I am. I have been troubleshooting my machine and in the process didn't realize that the smooth and textured sheets required different First Layer Calibrations, so I set about fixing that. I found this post about saving the calibrations in the machine;

https://help.prusa3d.com/article/steel-sheet-profiles_1955

. I did the smooth sheet first and it worked as advertised. But when I did the textured sheet, it didn't give me an option to select "offset" so it would lock it in at the Z axis height it was at. So I tried again and still no go. The menu option for Quick Toggle also didn't show up. So I powered down and tried again and found that the smooth sheet settings had saved but not the textured sheet. So I did it all again and had the same thing happen. Is there something I am missing here? I followed the guide step by step, so is there a secret I should know about?

I checked for updates and found none through PrusaSlicer. My machine is on firmware version 6.0.3+14902, and bootloader version 2.3.4. If I try to print something it gives me a warning that says "Please complete calibrations & tests before using the printer" and gives me the option to abort or continue.

Thoughts?

RE: Steel sheet profiles

Did you do the first layer calibration after you selected the smooth sheet? That is when you are able to set the z-offset for that sheet.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the question. I did the first layer calibration the regular way, then went into LCD Menu -> Settings -> Hardware -> Steel Sheets and selected smooth1, then selected "offset" to set it to that profile and that worked. Then I did the same thing again with the textured sheet and the textur1 sheet profile but the "offset" option doesn't show up. Then I tried to redo the textured sheet one using the "first layer calibration" option under the "textur1) sheet profile and it does the first layer calibration just fine but it doesn't save it to that sheet's profile.

I don't have your printer, but I don't think you need to use the "offset" option. You should select the sheet and perform the first layer calibration. In that order. During the calibration you adjust the z-offset. It should be saved for that sheet allowing you to just select different sheets in the future w/o doing the first layer calibration.
