Starts clicking after printing for a while

I'm having trouble diagnosing this problem:

The printer prints fine for a while. Seems to be related to a length of filament rather than number of layers. Then it starts "clicking". If I just leave it, eventually the filament stops extruding and when I reload it there's a divot where the wheel has ground it down. If I say "reload filament" as soon as I hear the clicking, when I remove it, the end looks normal for about 3cm, then very thin for about 3cm, and then back to normal. If I cut that off, and finish the reload, printing continues for a while, until the clicking starts again.

I've tried changing the nozzle, running at a higher temp, and recalibrating everything. The problem still happens.

Does anyone know what's up with this and how to fix it?

I'm guessing you mean replace the hot-end ptfe tube.

It's only $1.19, but it also $20 in postage. So I found another ptfe tube for my other printer, cut it down to size, and replaced it. The problem got worse. It now starts clicking after about 6 minutes instead of about 12.
Does that mean we're closer?

I put the old ptfe pipe back in, and it was still in the "worse" state, clicking almost right away. The bead looked flattened, so I did a Z adjustment and backed the nozzle off a from -.7 to -.5. That stopped the clicking. But, even though the first layer calibration went fine at that height, when I tried a real print it completely failed to adhere.

The printer is, basically, useless at the moment.

OK unscrew nozzle, unscrew the 2 screws under heat block, remove thermistor and heater cartridge, then unscrew heat block ,unscrew the heat breake that's the long double end screw thing ,then heat up nozzle with heat gun and clean all the inside or replace the nozzle then clean the inside of heatblock by heating up using heatgun then reassemble. That should fix it

Don't hesate to ask questions about this process then let us know if it worked or not
