send files over wifi instead of usb stick
Hi everyone,
is there a way to have the prusa mini connected to the computer instead than having to use a usb stick. Either by wifi, ethernet or usb?
Thanks,
Paul

You still need a USB stick in the printer to have memory. But you can directly send files from your computer to the printer over ethernet.
You need the latest firmware and set up the PrusaSlicer profile.

Many options. You can use Octoprint using a raspberry Pi connected by USB. You can hook an ethernet cable up to the Mini and use PrusaLink. You can add a wifi module and do the same. And to reiterate lichtjaeger's comment, once the Mini is connected by Ethernet or Wifi, you can also send print jobs directly from PrusaSlicer.

Hi
If I'm right you still need theUSB stick plugged to the MINI when using Wifi or Ethernet with PrsuaLink or PrusaSlicer.
Octoprint doesn't need USB stick I guess. The other way I know that doesn't need USB stick is to use Pronterface and connect printer to PC via USB.

Yes, Prusalink needs a USB stick attached, Octoprint, Astroprint, etc don't.

Can you explain how that works? I thought I had setup the Mini in PrusaSlicer, but there's no option to sent the file to the Mini via WiFi, there's just the normal "Export Gcode" option. My current workflow is: Slice in PrusaSlicer. Open browser. Open PrusaLink website. Upload Gcode.
When using Octoprint, there is an additional button to sent directly to the printer. Should there also be a similar button to export to the Mini?

If you don't have a wifi module installed yet, see https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-setup-wi-fi-mini-mini_316781
I should say it works but the transfer speed is atrocious, night and day compared to what you get from ethernet or the wifi built into a Raspi. I gave up on Wifi and pulled ethernet cables. But again, it works.
Once wifi is installed, you need to configure a "Physical Printer" in Prusaslicer. See https://help.prusa3d.com/article/physical-printers_196761
Essentially, you provide the address of the Mini and the login credentials. Now, after slicing you'll see a new button appear:

Ah, I see the issue now. My router reassigned the Prusa Mini a new IP when it reconnected, so PrusaSlicer doesn't find the printer anymore.

Yes, that's why you should set static IP addresses for your printers on your router.

RE:
Set a static IP of the printer, but make sure it is not in the dynamic range of the router.. For instance, if your router is giving out IP addresses of, say.. 192.168.2.2 upwards, then set the static IP above 100. (192.168.2.100). If you set it for .3, then your router might give that address to another and you’ll have two computers with the same IP and neither will work.. You can log into the router and ensure it only gives a range of IP addresses and then use static outside that range.. ignore this if you are well versed in router config..
I really like the OctoPrint setup.. Can’t imagine running a printer without this type of capability.

RE: send files over wifi instead of usb stick
Thanks, I ordered a wifi module, hopefully it is as easy as on the video
RE: send files over wifi instead of usb stick
Hopefully you ordered multiple ones, incase some of the ESPs don't work.
