Random Under-Extrusion Issue on Prusa Mini+

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with my Prusa Mini+: some layers print well, but sometimes I get under-extrusion, as if the filament isn’t coming out properly.

I’ve already tried several things:

Replacing the Z-axis bearings (thinking the issue was related), but it didn’t help.

Cleaning the nozzle, the extruder gears, etc., but no improvement.

I also noticed that the extruder and Z-axis motors feel hotter than the others. Is this normal? How can I test the motors to check if they are working correctly? Are the stepper drivers replaceable on this board, or are they soldered/non-replaceable?

Honestly, I’m a bit lost and would appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance for your help.

RE:

I just started having the same issue, in particular on first layer.  I do the first layer calibration and get a great layer, then go to print basic squares and they come out under extruded.  Replaced filament, cleaned nozzle/clogs, all the usual mechanical issues and can't find anything.  Just updated firmware and that didn't help.

Looking forward to some insights!
