Major shift in x direction
Hello all,
I have a 1.5yrs old Prusa Mini.
The x-axis print quality is very good. But when the head is moving quickly, there are a few clicks and then the whole print shifts a bit - sometimes 5-10mm.
I did first tighten the belt. When that did not solve the problem, I took the arm apart to confirm that the timing pulley (gear attached to the x-axis stepper and the belt) has the 2 grub screws tight. These are the ones that are at 90 degree angle from each other. I tried jiggling the gear and there was no sliding or play.
I noticed that when I spin the x-axis (yes, not good for voltage reasons) I am easily able to make the gears skip in the servo itself. Is this normal?
Should I look into replacing the servo, or is this just a belt FAQ and I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be? With a belt issue, I thought the clicking was the sound of the belt slipping across the timing pulley and not a metallic click from inside the servo itself.
Thanks. Any pointers would be appreciated
Keenan
RE: Major shift in x direction
looks like the timing pulley is probably called the motor pinion. it can be seen here https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/3-x-axis-extruder-assembly_199519#200725
