Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
Just today the extruder motor started making this noise anytime it needs to go in reverse (unloading).
No visible jam inside the housing. (see video)
Since unload wasn't working I've managed to pull out the filament by force.
Since unloading the filament I've tried running a few "unload" commands and it even makes this noise without any filament at all, so I'm pretty certain it's not the sound of "grinding filament".
Any suggestions for other things to check would be great.

RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
Hello, I have the same problem. Did you manage to fix it by any chance?
Greetings,
Michele
RE:
Nothing I've tried has completely fixed it. I disassembled the extruder, made sure all the parts were clear of debris, made sure all the gears could spin properly/interlocked properly, and put it back together... that helped some, but it still gets caught and makes noise when unloading filament.
It seems to stick on the very end of the filament when unloading. I generally just pull hard to get the final few inches of filament out. I hope I'm not damaging anything?
I may look into a different extruder at some point, if no better solution comes up. (I hear good things about the Bondtech ones?)
RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
So, I contacted support and I've been sent the following parts:
- MINI-Extruder-front
- MINI-Extruder-rear
- Extruder motor pinion
Swapping these parts and playing a bit with the positioning when tightening the screws fixed the problem for me. I hope this can help you too.
RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
Was there any more progress made to this problem? It seems that I now too have this issue while loading and unloading.
Support sent me a new motor, a new Buddy board, new gears and pinion.
RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
It's been a while, but if I recall, the trick ended up being to just disassemble the extruder, give it a thorough cleaning to ensure there's no issues with the feeder-gear, and then putting it back together.
RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
For anyone ending here like I did and not knowing what to do. I disassembled the extruder fully until the stepper motor was free. There was some dirt on the gears of the motor that I cleaned of(I think this was the issue). Then I turned the printer on and kept trying unload while assembling. first make sure the axis is spinning together with the gear by marking with a marker.
As soon as the other gear was in place I tried out unloading carefully because everything is disassembled. And this time it worked! No more sound! then I closed everything and tried one more time and it still worked 🙂

this is the solution
Support sent me a new motor, a new Buddy board, new gears and pinion.
RE: Loud noise when unloading, doesn't unload
Currently having this same issue - identical sound from the motor & gear assembly when unloading. What info did you guys need to provide support in order to receive replacements?

its simple to change ( you can buy BMG clone ) and print this Prusa Mini BMG conversion autorstwa Afterschnitzel | Pobierz darmowy model STL | Printables.com
perfect work. Next go to setting push the button wait 3 sec open experimental menu fix extruder 325 change to 415 and save and restart.
if you are use orginal connectors you need one of this
