How to use RX/TX from extension port in MINI+
Hi,
I have MINI+ for about 4.5 years now and more than 3 I'm using it with OctoPrint (add-ons like cancel-object, MQTT for working with my sonoff are life saving, also timelapse is fun). So using microUSB to connect to serial in RPi was crucial.
But port microUSB fell off. It was poorly soldered from beginning (one thick front leg was in air and the second was barely soldered, so whole usb port was hanging on those small pads in back). At least all joints are cleanly off, so rework with hotgun will do the trick, but 1st I don't have one, 2nd I'm not that skilled in soldering. Eventually I'll find some electronic fixer but...
...what about extension port/J23 on board?
There are TX/RX from MCU PB6/PB7 as MCU USART? What are they for? Is this only some firmware/software restrain to use those as direct UART connection?
Why those are not used as backup serial control? At least J23 connector would be more robust than this teeny-tiny microUSB.
Of course I have right now PrusaLink, but this will only do temporary because of lack those features of OctoPrint.
Is this possible to get J23-TX/RX working that way (connected directly to RPi UARTs)?
