Homing at end of print

I just had my mini do a 12 hour print, and it came out great.... except that at the end, it moved the hot end down into the body of the print, melting it as it went. So I wound up with the print head embedded in the walls of the object, merrily reporting that it was 100% finished. (Photo shows it after I lifted the head and removed some of the goo from the hotend.) On reflection, I think I'm pretty lucky that the walls were thin.

I'm going to reprint this with the shape rotated so that the low end of the print is in the back, but this is a particularly annoying problem (and an illustration that as amazing as they can be, machines are dumb). Is there a way that we can assign the home post-print location of the printhead, or is this just a bug? (If it is a bug, where is the reporting for that?)

Thank you!

Upgrade your firmware. Known incompatibility with newer slicer versions that makes the printer home to the back of the printer and running into the model
