Filament not coming out mid printing
Hi
Filament (PLA) stop coming out mid printing (prusa mini), but the printing continued,
what I already did:
- re-print
- general test
- purge filament
- purge filament using higher temp settings (260)
- purge filament again
It was actually printing then the filament just stopped coming out so don't think it's a dirty nozzle
Some weird sound when was doing the filament purging so have a feeling it has to do with the mechanism that moves the filament.
Is there a way test /fix it/magically make all my problems disappear?
thanks
RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
small update:
also tried load / unload
it seems that the filament broke between the moving mechanism (is my guess) and the extruding mechanism as the bit leading there was not moving and just got the broken bit out. I tried to push through but wouldn't get through...
RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
Unscrew the the long PTFE tube and try to remove any filament from it.
The clicking meant, your filament was stucked and the extruder motor was loosing steps -

I unscrewd the bolts but it seems stuck, should I cut it? should I try to unscrew the extruder tip?
RE:
DO NOT CUT THE PTFE TUBE !!!
If there is a left over hanging from extruder try to unload (Filament-> Unload filament) , this should help.
Open the extruder cover and check if any filament is there stucked.
The leftover hanging from the nozzle - heat the nozzle (Settings-.Temperature-> nozzle) and when heated ,try to pull it cerafully out, or try the cold pull to get all filament remains out of the nozzle.

RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
ok, well, gosh.
it seems to be stuck on the extruder end so even if I use the unload filament function there is nothing there to pick up right now I think,
so I should turn the printer on and try to pull the filament up from the extruder... I guess,, argh
RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
ok just put the nozzle temp to 220 and got some pliers to pull it
RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
Ok I managed to do it but the issue seems to be on the other side of the mechanism as well, as I still get that sound and it doesn't get through, so I unscrew that part as well?
RE: Filament not coming out mid printing
You can open the extruder inspection door (on top of extruder) and check, if you can find out any filament left.
If the filament does not want to come out, the extruder should probably been disassembled (the last choice) to get the remains out of it.
